How to Apply Blush| MAC Peaches Blush

Blush was never my thing before. It was just Eyeliner and Lipsticks all the time! I knew what Blush does and probably might have used one long time ago but I didn’t. Once again someone showed me what a difference it makes! A slight sweep and my cheeks were looking gorgeous! It gave amazing depth and dimension to all-over face! And then I started noticing that almost every “maked-up” woman had beautiful rosy or summery cheeks! I would say, if you apply it correctly, it literally gives a wonderful glow to the face.

I started reading more about blushes and application techniques and what brush to use and all that. I think no one has same face contours or same size of cheekbones. So there is no standard application technique. I even read that you should go light and not for a “slapped look” or one shouldn’t go too heavy on cheeks. But I feel it’s totally wrong to “limit” the color on cheeks; one should do with what one is comfortable with. I believe newbies should exercise caution, but for someone who does make-up everyday, going for stronger cheeks is just awesome!

But again, application is the key. I have found that darker colors look more better on the side, usually the angled-line that starts after the apples of the cheeks and goes little below the temples of the head. Apple of the cheeks, should be really lighter than side areas, and blending is another key here.
I have seen bold colors in corals, reds, browns look really good on confident people! But they usally do “light” lips or “light eyes” with that makeup. Also the paler you are, the more blending and more application techniques are needed for proper look. I would also say, that if your foundation is matte, go for a slight shimmer in blush, it will look so good! And if your foundation is dewy or natural, go for matte blush, otherwise if all is shimmer, it would look too much “chamak-damak”.

So since, I like natural foundation, I decided to go for 1 Matt blush for day-time look and I wanted a light-orangey color. So I tried “MAC Peaches” and it looked wonderful on me! I loved it. I bought it! It sells for $19.50 for 6g. Will probably last for a long time!

So here I share the pictures!!

It’s a true Peach color and pink undertones are almost absent.

It’s a Sheertone Blush….you can go as light as you want to as dark as you choose.

As you can see, its sheer and a nice peach color.

It gives a nice natural color to cheeks and pairs well with natural looks. Also goes well with bold eyes….

Enjoy and let me know how you found the above comments on blush!

  1. Nice post Nia!! Even I like using darker shades (warmer shades especially) lightly under my cheekbones and then blend them upwards- like a cross between contouring and blush.
The shade looks really pretty on you. I feel its making you look very youthful and glowing! 🙂 What eye shadow and lip color are you wearing?

    1. Thank you Ankita!!! Thank you for comments……

Eye shadow is MAC Texture on the eyelids and highlighter from WetnWild Palette and Lip color is Mac Stay-In-Touch….its corally color…..Texture is also kind of orangey-peach with slight shimmer…its a great color….I love it.

    1. I have not seen MAC Hipness Blush….but this one (Peaches) is just peach…..light orangish……and its matte kind……its a great blush, but definately for daytime looks….office wear or somewhere where you dont want to look over-done.

  5. woww Nia….the blush looks so natural and pretty on you. I love the softness it gives on your face. But this wont show on my dusky skin! :((
I am more inclined towards plum blushes these days :)) :victory2: :victory2:

    1. ….Try Peach Perfection trio of Blush from COVERgirl cosmetics…..It will def. suit you well…..its bit darker and has shimmer particles…..its a great versatile blush to suit most skins.

Different blushes have different outcomes….you can pair peaches with green outfits or pink or purples……Plum blushes can go with black, white or grey or contrasting outfits……you can put plum to contour and peach on apples of cheeks…..so many combo’s……

  6. Hi- i always a little confused about whether the darker should be on the apple of the cheeks and the lighter on the hollow of the cheeks or vice versa. does it depend on the face type?

i have heard darker shade on the temple, the cheekbones and the jawline gives the face a ‘longer’ appearance..a little confused now :waaa: I have a very round face so is contousing with dark or light shade better?

    1. Darker shade is usually for contouring….like browns, brown-reds etc…. to give fuller cheeks some definations…..whereas, a light hand is used on apples of cheeks….you can add peach, pinks or even plums to bring out natural flush of the cheekbones.

Check on Raani Mukherjee….whose face is fuller and she uses blush to contour her cheeks.

You are right, darker shade on the areas mentioned…like jawline, cheekbones, you can brush some bronzer with a angled brush to bring out defination…..to a round face.

  7. Beautiful colour, Nia… I didnt know what to do with blush either. I have very prominent cheekbones, so I don’t do much contouring, just grin and apply on to the apples of my cheeks. I’m yet to invest much in blushes. Baby steps 🙂

  8. Yes, I agree with you…baby steps…..

One has to experiment and see what suits you best, what brings out best features etc…….
