How To Apply Cream Blush

I am loving wearing cream blushes these days. Cream blushes give a dewy- moist kind of look to your cheeks. I was going out today so while getting ready I thought I’d do a small tutorial on how I apply cream blush. You my use a stippling brush or a regular foundation brush as well . I just like to use my clean fingers. πŸ™‚

I am using Bobbi brown Pot Rouge in Cabo Coral . You may use any cream blush you have. People with oily skin stay away from Bobbi Brown Pot rouge. It gives that glossy look to cheeks, which may look oily if you already have an oily skin.

Let’s start

Pick cream blush with a Q Tip. You may also use a clean brush to pick the product. I just don’t like to re-dip my brush in the pot so I use a Q Tip.

Where to place the blush? Place your index finger slanted on top of your cheek. If you slightly press you finger, you would feel your cheekbone. That’s exactly where you have to place your cream blush.

Most cream blushes are super pigmented . It’s better to layer the cream blush than apply it in a one go. Apply 3-4 dots of cream blush on your cheek bone. Your starting point should be center of your iris “eye” and it would go upwards towards the temple. It should blend into your hairline.

Now with your two middle fingers start patting the dots. No dragging or swiping – just patting. The warmth of your fingers would spread the blush evenly on your cheeks. Also , you wouldn’t be able to see where your blush started and where it ended. Pat til the dots disappear and spread evenly on your cheeks.

Apply more if required. I flip my Q Tip and pick more.

Pat again. Pat in the direction going upwards towards your temple.

You may set your makeup with transparent loose powder. if you want you may also double up your cream blush with aΒ  powder blush to make the application long lasting. And you are done. Easy peasy. πŸ™‚

I follow the same technique with all my cream blushes.Hope it helps you as well. πŸ™‚

  7. Hi Rati! Great to read this tutorial when actually I was thinking of buying a cream blush :-)) :-)) My one question is-should I apply the cream blush after my foundation is set with compact or before using compact??? and in winter its fine..but in sultry summers when we sweat a lot and need frequent touch ups..can we use cream blushes? :struggle: :struggle: ..

    1. Anuradha,

you can apply cream blush in following ways :

      1. primer / oil free moisturiser =>cream blush => setting powder or apply compact using a powder brush. in this case keep the intensity of cream blush stronger because after applying compact the blush would tone down

      2. Cream / liquid foundation => cream blush => setting powder.

In summers you can use cream blushes as a base to powder blushes. This would not only set your cream blush but would also help your blush last longer. Also, your powder blush wouldn’t go patchy.

      1. Do you think blushes suit the skin with pits. Because my skin has pits due to acne , now my skin is less prone to acne but I have acne scars.
