Bharat and Dorris Liquid Foundation Review

Bharat and Dorris Liquid Foundation Review

Hello everyone!

Today’s review is going to be on a liquid foundation. I have always stayed away from them for many reasons like exact shade for my skin tone, and also the formulation as I am blessed with oily skin. I love trying new ones in an urge to find a good match for me and so far have tried a bunch of them, but for some reason, I end up throwing them unused because of the above mentioned reasons. As foundation should rather look like a second skin and no one should be able to tell you are wearing one and should not look like a mask sitting on top of skin. Till date, I have tried many products from Bharat and Dorris and frankly none have disappointed me so far. So, after buying their cream foundation which I use only as a concealer, I went ahead and bought this one some time back and I really like it to the point that I am about to finish it and it is the right time to review it.  Let’s find out more.

Product Description:

I could not find any on the box itself, nor is it updated on their website, so I am clueless about it.

Price:

Rs. 600 for 30 ml.

My Experience with Bharat and Dorris Liquid Foundation:

The foundation comes in a glossy black box with ingredients written on it. I wish there was some kind of product description on it as well. Inside there’s a round thick transparent glass bottle with a black cap and the bottle has a pump to avoid product wastage. The foundation comes in seven shades which is great and I have shade no. 2 which is mentioned on the base of the bottle. The bottle is bulky like any other foundation bottle and one has to be careful while carrying it around.

My skin tone is medium with yellow undertones and I have extremely oily skin type in summers and combination during winters. I do not suffer from acne but do have slight redness on cheeks. This shade matches my skin tone exactly and blends in like a dream that is why I love it, as I have always struggled to find that perfect shade match. It has the right amount of yellow undertones for Indian skin tones, but currently in winters, my skin has lightened a bit and it looks slightly dark on me, but in summers, it is a perfect match for me and that is when I have used it the most.

It smells like chocolate, just like the cream foundation, but it is very mild and fades quickly.  The texture is medium thick; it is not very runny or very thick and has never blocked my pores. It is very light and feels like I have applied nothing at all. It is medium coverage, but completely buildable for full coverage. A pump is enough to cover entire face and a single layer completely evens out my skin tone, but you do need a concealer for under eye dark circles. It sets almost immediately and the finish is natural matte, not dewy nor extremely matte and therefore completely suitable for all skin types, but as I have oily skin, it gets shiny and oxidizes slightly after 3-4 hours on my t-zone, but setting it with a powder extends that.

Coming to the oxidation part, I have yet not come across anything that does not oxidize on me, be it a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream or anything tinted. I guess using a primer underneath should definitely solve this problem. It never looks cakey even after so long. It is waterproof, it does not come off while sweating or with water, it has to be removed with a good makeup remover.

Dry skin beauties need to moisturize skin before application as the texture is not very emollient and it might stick to dry patches. One thing I love about it is that it does not melt even in the hot and humid Mumbai weather; it does fade slightly from my t zone after 5-6 hours of wear.  In winters, it stays on for 8 hours without any fading. As far as application goes, I love using it with a stippling brush for a light coverage look and for medium coverage, I use it with a flat paddle foundation brush and it photographs pretty well as it does not contain any SPF.

I think this foundation is best suited for normal to oily skin and people with dry skin can use it, but after moisturizing properly.  It is reasonably priced considering currently no decent foundation is available under Rs. 500.  I have had this bottle for more than six months now and a little goes a long way.

Pros of Bharat and Dorris Liquid Foundation:

  • Great packaging, comes with a pump dispenser.
  • Medium coverage, can be built up to full.
  • Does not cause acne or block pores.
  • Smudge and waterproof.
  • Stays on for long on my oily skin.
  • Good shade selection for Indian skin tones.
  • Lasts for a long time as only a little quantity is required.
  • Natural matte finish.
  • Photographs well.

Cons of Bharat and Dorris Liquid Foundation:

  • No product details mentioned on the packaging.
  • No SPF.
  • Emphasizes dry patches.
  • Oxidizes on me.
  • Availability.

Do I Recommend Bharat and Dorris Liquid Foundation?

This is a great foundation for normal to oily skin tones, and it is probably the best foundation I have used till date for my oily skin and the shades matches me pretty well.

  1. Thanks for this. looks perfect for my skin type. my skin does tend to get a little dry in winters but with the VLCC sunscreen that I have recently started using, this might work well. Not available everywhere I guess. would you know which website would have it?

    1. *thankyou* ,they do have their own website, but they do not sell it online you will have to buy it from the store *haan ji* , they have stores in Mumbai 🙂
