Hola beautiful ladies,

It’s finally raining in Kolkata and I would say just in time because I almost got vaporized a week back. 😛 What is your favorite makeup brand in the Indian market? Mine is Bourjois Paris and today I am going to talk about a pretty plum shade from their Effet 3D Max Gloss range – Brun Delight!

INR 850 for 6.5 ml.

Product Description:

You can now treat your lips to our historic 3 Dimensional Volume for a super glossy plumped up pout, while keeping them hydrated for 8 hours!

I picked this gloss up quite some time back and wore it nonstop for a good two months. 😛 This range offers 15 shades – from nude to vibrant tones and half of them are romantic roses and browns. I rather wanted Rose Lyric and Brun Democratic, but they seemed to have sold them out.  Why are the best shades always sold out? Grrr! So, I settled for this one.

My Experience with Bourjois Effet 3D Max Gloss – Brun Delight:

Browns are not exactly my favorites, but well you know, you need to have some in case you get a red hangover! That doesn’t occur to me often 😛 But I’d rather wear plums and browns than the naturals and neutrals.

Packaging:

3D Max Glosses come in a curvy plastic container with the color of that particular shade donning all over it. It’s not pretty but useful if you are looking for a particular shade in rush o’clock and helplessly staring at a big box of lip products.  The applicator wand is a bit different, it’s plastic and sort of spoon like! Neither the usual doe-foot applicator or the new slant tip ones. It’s straight and flexible. As far as I understand, it is supposed to “scoop” up necessary amount of product and help in an even application.

Formula and Pigmentation:

It’s paraben free! The formula is hydrating and extremely shiny! There are some micro shimmer particles that make your lips look like a fairy lit party. 😀 I dread sticky lip glosses, this is neither non-sticky nor clingy.  I would describe the texture as somewhere between a balm and a gloss which makes it quite comfortable to wear.

Brun Delight is one of the darkest shades of the range and the pigmentation is not great, but I don’t mind it because it’s dark enough to cover even the most pigmented lips! Although I suspect it will show up differently on complexion and pigmentation of lips wise. On mine, it looks like a toffee shade with glittery pale pink undertones. Your lips do feel plump and luscious but certainly not 3D 😛

Pros of Bourjois Effet 3D Max Gloss – Brun Delight:

• Comfortable texture to pull off – not too sticky, a balm-ish feel leads the way!
• Superb rich toffee shade. Alone or over a chocolate/hazelnut/plum lipstick, it looks awesome. 😀
• It smells and tastes delicious. Contains pomegranate extract which gives it a sweet and yummy smell. Not overpowering either. *happydance*
• One tube goes a long way, I will tell you why in a bit.
• Fantastic, non-drying, nourishing formula. Feels so hydrating on lips!
• Has the best pigmentation in the entire range.

Cons of Bourjois Effet 3D Max Gloss – Brun Delight:

• It is long lasting but doesn’t live up to the 8-hour claim at all. Without food and drinks, it lasts about 3.5 hours after which the shiny particles go missing and leave a little trace of the fruity smell behind – a bit like MAC Hot Tahiti.
• Don’t get your expectations high with the 3D Max tag! It has some minor plumping effects but that’s all, really.
• I don’t like the applicator. It scoops up too much gloss at one go! Had a lot of trouble to get used to it. I end up dabbing a good bit in the middle of my lower lip and move my lips till it’s distributed all around. Takes less product but very messy and troublesome application.
• It will feel heavy if you have been using the Shine Caresse stains like me.
• Pricey, this is the one thing I do not like about Bourjois Paris. There is barely anything under 800 bucks!

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Bourjois Effet 3D Max Gloss – Brun Delight?

I won’t repurchase, not entirely comfortable with the formula and certainly not good enough, considering the price tag.  I would rather wait for L’Oreal to launch a few caresse stains in toffees and plums! Totally hooked to ‘em 😀  If you like a shiny and super rich glossy pout, yes, you could go for it. But you could do a hell of a lot better with eight hundred and fifty bucks! I think Bourjois fellows make better lipsticks. 😀

IMBB Rating:

3.5/5, there’s nothing that wrong with Brun Delight, it just doesn’t live up to what all it claims.
