I picked up a few lip liners from Catrice recently as my lipstick collection kept increasing and I had just one or two liners. My Experience with Catrice Velvet Matt Lip Pencil Colour and Contour – Love Among the Rosewood Trees:

I have been in love with matte products lately. I have picked up several matte lipsticks and to match with them I wanted some lip liners. This Velvet Matt range attracted me a lot. There are several colors available in this range and I picked up three shades that match my lipsticks. The lip liner comes as a sharpenable pencil. It is black in color. The cap and the bottom depict the color of the lip liner.

The lip liner is not sealed and this is such a bummer as the products can be swatched. The pencils are easy to sharp with a normal sharpener. The product contains Carmine and the same is stated on the cap, which means it contains color derived from the scales of insect bodies. Carmine, even though is used a lot in red dyes for food, makeup etc, can cause allergic reactions. Therefore, you need to take care before using this pencil.

The product is very soft and easily breakable. While sharpening, I have broken it several times. The product is creamy and very soft. It doesn’t have any fragrance. It lives to the claim of being velvet matte. The product glides very smoothly and creates soft lines. The lip liner is nude rose in color. It has a very light hint of red and the color looks great. I have pigmented lips and thus, nude shades do not suit me or do anything. However, this lip liner adds a light nude shade to my lips. Even though it doesn’t hide my pigmented lips completely, it does to some extent, and I am happy with the results.

The product can be used to fill the lips, too. This way it creates a beautiful natural shade. The lip liner is drying and if you do not moisturize your lips, it clings to the dry patches and creates an uneven look. The lip liner is not moisturizing and doesn’t hydrate the lips either. The lip liner doesn’t smear off once applied and it does withstand some tea and food. It lasts around 3-5 hours and then completely fades away even without leaving a hint.

When used with a lipstick, the lip liner prevents bleeding of the lipstick and extends the wear of the lipstick by 2-3 hours, which is a big plus. I have been using it with short durable lipsticks and it has increased their longevity. Overall, this lip liner is not a must-have but if you are looking for a liner to enhance the longevity of your lipsticks, this could be a good buy.
