Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM Review

Hello everyone,

This review will be on the CeraVe Facial Moisturizing lotion PM.

Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM

Product Description:

Containing ceramides and hyaluronic acid, CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM increases the skin’s ability to attract, hold and distribute moisture. It penetrates deep into the layers of the stratum corneum to help to replace deficient levels of key lipids that are essential for an effective skin barrier.

Taking skin care a step further, CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM also contains niacinamide, which may help reduce redness.  Unique, Patented MVE® Delivery Technology.  Ordinary moisturizing lotions need to be applied frequently because the ingredients are released in a single “burst” and absorbed in a short period of time. Like other CeraVe® Skin Care products, CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM offers the benefits of unique, patented MVE delivery technology, which provides a controlled release of essential ceramides and other skin-nourishing ingredients slowly over time. It penetrates deep into the skin to moisturize throughout the day while “locking in” precious moisture. The unique ingredients in CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM help restore and maintain the natural protective function of the skin barrier, help restore damaged skin and help keep skin healthy – all night long.

My Experience with Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM:

As I mentioned in a lot of my previous reviews, I have very dry skin which is prone to flaking and has dry patches. Winters are especially harsh on my skin and I go through tubs of moisturizers during this season. I have had very good experience with the CeraVe Cleansers in the past (both the foaming and hydrating versions are reviewed on IMBB), hence I decided to pick this up.

Comes in a sturdy bottle with a pump. The pump locks and unlocks with a twist which is very helpful if you were to travel with this as it will not accidentally leak everywhere.  I do not like the fact that it is not see through which makes it difficult to see how much lotion you have left.

The consistency of this lotion is between a cream and a gel. It is very smooth and spreads easily on the skin and gives immediate relief to dry and flaky skin. It is so good that your skin would feel as smooth and silky as you feel when you apply those silicone primers.  It sinks into the skin completely within seconds and does not leave behind any residue.  Even though this is a PM (night-time moisturizer), I use it both during the day and night without ever feeling that it is greasy or heavy on my skin. I can use this under makeup too.

Over the last few months, I was suffering from horrible acne and had to use those acne lotions prescribed by doctors which make the skin peel and dry out a lot. Surprisingly, the doctor recommended this very lotion to help with the dryness on my face.  If it has been recommended by the doctor, it has to be good then!

The only con with this product is that since it is a night-time moisturizer, it does not contain SPF which you have to keep in mind if you were using it during the day. CeraVe also has this same lotion in the AM version which does contain SPF.

This lotion does not have an offensive scent and it is not very strongly fragrant. The fragrance is very mild and medicine like that dissipates quickly.

Overall, I highly recommend this lotion as do most dermatologists if you are someone with dry skin. Since it is not too greasy, it will even suit oily skin.

Pros of Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM:

  • Relieves dry skin immediately.
  • Keeps dryness and flaky skin under control.
  • Must-have for winter season.
  • Does not feel heavy on skin or clog pores.
  • Makes skin soft and smooth.
  • Can be used under makeup too.
  • Can be used by oily or dry skin and everyone in between.
  • Very affordable and easily available.

Cons of Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM:

  • The PM version does not contain SPF, but if you need SPF content, then there is an AM version, so that’s not a con, just something to keep in mind.
