Price : Rs 2,600
My Experience :
I have been using this compact for a couple of months now and I am totally addicted to it. It is a translucent finishing powder. I use it in shade 40 Dore – Translucent 3.
- It mattifies the face without making it look too powdery or too matte. It reminds me of MAC Skinfinish Natural in a lot of ways but Chanel Finishing powder has a tad bit more coverage than MSF.
- It sets the makeup for good 4 hours and also controls oil. It has worked absolutely fab during these humid days.
- It does not oxidize.
- The powder is very finely milled and gives a smooth finish to skin.
- It does not look cakey.
- It gives a lovely natural finish to skin.
- Comes in a compact packaging with an inbuilt mirror and a powder puff. The puff is quite soft and picks up just the right amount of product. In fact this powder works great with powder puff as opposed to the powder brush.
However
I wish this came with a couple of spare applicators. I also wish this was available in a lot more colors. Girls with chocolaty skin tone would probably not find a shade for their skin tone.
Overall, if you are looking for a compact that would offer you some amount of coverage this may not be the best thing to go for. It is just a fancy pressed powder that does a great job. You can gift it to yourself as a treat but you definitely don’t ‘need’ it. There are a ton of powders that work just as great at almost half the price. This is pure luxury. 🙂

Hahahaha. Sorry, could not help laughing at your response, Rati. Well said. 😛
Very honest review! I definitely dont need it, coz i’m currently loving MAC mineralize skinfinish, but this one looks so so classy. Tempted!
actually yeah msf is great . Only you have to carry a separate puff or kabuki brush with it. :))
my compact has actually hit a pan..but not a must have na so will skip it
yeah not a must have but if you want to give it a try, do give it a shot. it is quite nice. 🙂
Price wise its high

Price wise its high
BTW Nice review 🙂
thanks vini :))
love such luxurious products, once in a while :), great review Rati 🙂
thanks kumkum :))
Rati can I say that I am in looooove with your wooden floorboard or whatever it is, it makes such a fantastic background for the pics!
Why are C*anel products sooooo expensive? Acha tell me, between this one and MSF…which one do you think is better for oily skin? I read the pros n cons, but if you had to repurchase, which one would you pick up?
aarbee, go for mac blot powder. 🙂
https://makeupandbeauty.com/mac-blot-powder-review-photos-swatches/
There is mac sheer pressed powder too : https://makeupandbeauty.com/mac-select-sheer-pressed-powder-review/
and if i had to repurchase i would go for some compact from mac only because MSF does not come with a puff or mirror so that never helps when you have to carry it along. i can totally repurchase this one anyday. 🙂
Expensive!!
I have an oily skin and i’ve tried quite a few compacts.. none of them work that great..
i have to keep blotting my face every hour..
i guess you should use a primer. That helps in making your makeup last quite long. 🙂
Great review. Thank you for specifically mentioning that it is a luxury, not a necessity. 🙂 Otherwise, I’d have starved myself (read: skipped cheesecake and pizzas) to save up for a sinfully classy thing like this.
jw, glad. 🙂 actually some things with chanel are such that are not replaceable but this pretty much is. 🙂 Thanks. 🙂
nicely review
loved the honest way u expressed at the end
thanks 🙂
ooohh nice Rati di 🙂 One day when I earn I will also indulge in such luxuries once a while 🙂
Great review Rati di. But this is so expensive 🙁 i will have to save my pocket money to get this. its better i skip this. thanks for mentioning that it is not a necessity 😛
Hey then which one is slightly pocket friendly substitute for it mine is very dry skin do u have any suggestions?
Just bought this the other day. Great powder BUT I am SHOCKED considering the name, prestige and price, that they give you a poor quality applicator/sponge! I have had cheap, drugstore compacts with 100% better applicators than this. CHANEL??? They should be ashamed! I actually threw the sponge away thinking it was a protectant for the powder! I quickly retrieved it when I realized it was the actual applicator. Going back to the chanel counter today to see if they will give me a half decent replacement.
great review
