I visited Clinique to get some skincare products when I noticed these pretty little lipsticks sitting on the counter. I immediately asked the sales assistant to swatch some shades both in the liquid and the lipstick range. I liked two shades, one in each, but decided to pick “Ruby Pop” instead. Yeah, I did get the skincare kit too along with this 😀 Maybe next time I’ll get the liquid pop matte one!

My Experience with Clinique Pop Matte Lip Colour + Primer – Ruby Pop:
The lipstick has really gorgeous packaging! It’s color coordinated along with a metal cap. It feels luxe and assures that it is worth the money. The shade name is mentioned at the bottom. The square shape makes it a space savior while storing. It is also pretty compact and can be easily carried around.
“Ruby Pop” is a bright, warm-toned red which will suit beautifully on anyone. It instantly brightens up my face and I don’t need anything else if I wear this. Some may feel it may be too bright, but you just need the confidence. No shimmers, no fragrance, just solid beautiful color.
The pigmentation is way too good. A single swipe is all I need to get full coverage. Sometimes, I even just dab it on my lips for a more natural look and I am good to go. You get the full color in a single go. Talking about the texture and formula, I really loved it. I am more of a matte person because I feel matte formula is less fussy. I just cannot keep reapplying things because I am a lazy bum. And also, I feel it is more comfortable compared to the creamy formulas. It feels amazingly light on lips and stays on for a good amount of time.
It does transfer, but minimally. It fades from the center while having food and drinks. I wore this for a team event and trust me, it lasted for about 11 hours with just one touch up in-between.
Since this is a matte formula, it does take a toll on your lips by making them dry. A lip balm underneath would solve the problem. Lips need not be prepped prior as there is a primer in the lipstick and it just applies smoothly. Apart from the drying issue, I absolutely have no complaints with this one!
