ColourPop recently released a new range of lip products called Ultra blotted lip. Ultra-blotted lips are similar to a lip stain. Ultra-blotted lips are the sister to the blotted lips formula. Today, I will be reviewing “Cherry On Top.” So let’s see how this lipstick fared.

My Experience with ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip Cherry On Top:
Packaging: The packaging is a pretty standard clear tube with holographic writing on the side – ColourPop Ultra Blotted lip. The bottom of the tube specifies the name “Cherry on Top.” The tube has a silver cap. The applicator is a standard doe foot. The applicator allows me to fill in the corner of the lips easily. The product comes in a white cardboard box with the name of the product and the ingredients list. The packaging is very travel friendly and light weight.
Texture and Application: The concept of the ultra-blotted lips is to achieve the look when you apply a lipstick and blot it with a tissue but they will have a super matte finish. They don’t transfer onto cups like the blotted lips formulae. These lipsticks give a “popsicle-bitten” lips. The ultra-blotted lips are like lip stains which has a light weight texture and you can wear it for a more natural look and it’s going to last for a very long time. Once the lipstick dries it has a powdery light texture to it. There is a no tugging and pulling while applying the lipstick. Even though it’s a matte lipstick it’s not drying and is very comfortable to wear. There is no fragrance to the lipstick which is good.
Pigmentation and Coverage: The lipstick is not super pigmented. If you want a sheer wash of colour you just swipe the lipstick once. If you want it to be more opaque you can build the lipstick multiple time till you get the coverage. You can also wear a lip liner underneath if you want an opaque look.
Shade and Finish: “Cherry on Top” is described as a ‘deep plum’ and it is a dark warm-toned plum colour. This shade applies very patchy and due to its sheer formula I need to apply a lip liner underneath. This shade will suit light to medium Indian skin tones. The blotted lips gives me a natural looking stained lips. The finish of the lipstick is matte which feels feather light powdery to touch.
Staying Power: The staying power is really good with this lipstick. It stays on for around 5 to 6 hours. The lipstick actually survives meals and fades away evenly. If you eat an oily meal then this lipstick does fade away completely. Overall, I am really happy with the texture and the longevity of the lipstick. However I am not happy with the application. The lipstick can be easily removed with an oil based makeup remover.
