Today, I am reviewing another product from the Dessange Paris line of hair care. I have already their shampoo, conditioner and oil mist. And recently started using this hair mask. Read on to find out how the Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Balancing Pre-Shampoo Mask fared.

Product Description:
This first of its kind, clay-in-mask pre-shampoo regulating treatment incorporates a breakthrough skin purifying technology that targets an oily scalp. The unique formula, containing mineral clay concentration, works to absorb sebum excess and regulate oil production over time while the professional application brush allows for targeted, even coverage. The scalp is left deeply purified, helping to drastically reduce excess oil production. Dating back to ancient times, the virtues of clay have been used for centuries in cosmetic and therapeutic remedies to absorb sebum and eliminate toxins.

Suggested Use:
Use once a week on dry hair, applying it generously to the roots with the application brush. Leave on hair for five to ten minutes and rinse thoroughly.

My Experience with Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Balancing Pre-Shampoo Mask:

Packaging:  The mask comes in a mint-colored plastic tub. It has a screw-on cap which shuts tight. The packaging is pretty standard and simple yet effective. You can scoop the product out of the tub using a brush which can also be used to apply the mask in the hair.

Texture/Performance:  This is a clay-based mask and hence has the soft and creamy texture of clay. I was initially apprehensive of how it would spread through the hair given the thick consistency, but I have to tell you that it spreads quite well and is easy to apply to the scalp. I feel a mild tingling sensation when I apply the mask, but it lasts only for a few seconds. The mask has a very light olive oil fragrance, but it is too mild to bother anyone.

I love that this is a pre-shampoo mask and hence can be applied to dry hair. I don’t like those after-shampoo masks where you need to sit around for 5-10 minutes after shampooing. Also, this mask has to be applied only to the scalp and the roots. This is because this mask is targeted towards balancing the oil production which happens at the scalp.

I typically use this mask once a week as instructed. I massage it into the scalp to ensure that I have covered the whole head. I have to admit it is a bit difficult to get to the back of the head, but this should not be a problem for those of you who color/apply henna to your hair yourselves. I leave the mask on for around 10 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water. Contrary to what I had thought, it is pretty easy to wash away the mask and it does not leave any sticky residues behind. I follow up with my regular shampoo routine.

And now over to the results – this mask indeed works!! It makes my scalp/roots clean without the overtly dry feeling. I experience no itching or dry flakes, but at the same time, there is no grease either. The mask indeed manages to balance the oil production. It is as if it sucks off the excess oil and only leaves behind what is needed to nourish your hair. Amazing indeed! I would surely recommend this mask to all those who suffer from oily scalp.

I did not notice any aggravated hair fall after using this mask.
