One of the biggest overseas beauty trends this year was the advent of the of the triple tip pen style eyeliner. It reminds me of Poseidon’s trident and seems a tad gimmicky at first. But then when I realised that it is a perfect tip for beginners wanting to master the cat’s eye and tightline flawlessly, I wanted to jump on the bandwagon too.

But I wasn’t willing to shell out $20+ on a Clarins or Too Faced liner that I may not use. So I decided to purchase the e.l.f. one, which ironically boasts of 2 shades; something even the luxury brands don’t have at the moment.

Packaging

Let me start by kowtowing to the incredible spring mechanism e.l.f. has in this pen. It prevents the product from drying up fast, a general flaw most pen type liners suffer from. The outer white packaging looks cheap and flimsy but at this budget one can’t exactly luxurious packaging.

My take on e.l.f. Triple Tip Waterproof Eyeliner Pen – Black

I am an avid fan of this product! It is one of the most underrated products in the e.l.f. store but darn! It’s great. It’s intensely pigmented and allows one to connect the dots to a perfect cat’s eye. Tightlining is a breeze and looks brilliantly natural. Ofcourse, the regular pros of all pen type packaging like ease of application apply here.

The one major flaw in this product is when you first try to apply it, it is really runny and continues to be so for atleast 7-8 uses. After which it improves but somehow while swatching it, it goes back to the same consistency. *odd* The tip is so hard in the beginning that I felt like I was going to get fine lines in my lash line! But this problem too rights itself in a few uses.

But despite these initial flaws, I think this is the best tri tip liner that you can get in this price range. It lasts a long time and has an intense black glossy finish.
