I have started loving lipsticks and have been stacking up lipsticks from all brands! I recently brought 2 lipsticks from Essence and this article is about Essence Velvet Stick Matt lip color in Mega Melon.

What the company claims:
Go matt! The velvet sticks offer silky-matt results. The soft texture with a high coverage comes in a practical mini-format – and thanks to the large tip, application is quick and easy. They are available in delicate as well as intense colors.

Ingredients:
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Paraffin, Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Olymethylsilsesquioxane, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Hdi/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Tocopherol, Aroma (Flavor), Lecithin, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Glyceryl Stearate, Glyceryl Oleate, Citric Acid, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Ci 15850 (Red 6), Ci 15850 (Red 7 Lake), Ci 45410 (Red 27 Lake), Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide).

My Experience with Essence Mega Melon Velvet Stick Matt Lip Colour:

Essence velvet sticks have limited colors and I wanted this color for a very long time and this was always out of stock! This was the last piece available when I picked it up!

Corals are my favorite and this one is a bold shade of coral! The velvet stick is a pencil that needs sharpening. The stick is like a tiny jumbo stick and thus needs special sharpener and this can be a little inconvenient as you need to take this stick along to find a sharpener; I have not found one till now, and I don’t think I will need one for another 1 week at least! The plastic cap is tight enough to hold the pencil intact without opening.
One of the many things I like a lot about the product is the pigmentation, it is heavily pigmented and sometimes a few dots with some lip balm is enough for a lovely sheer look! Being pigmented also implies that they stay longer. This particular color stayed for around 4 hours which included lunch and 1 cup of tea in-between and without any munching the color stayed around for 6 hours.

However the color transfers onto the cups! Even though they are supposed to be matte, the velvet sticks are creamier and a little glossy. The velvet sticks are easy to glide and do not crease in between the dry lips but it is always recommended that your lips are moisturized before applying lipsticks. Being a little glossy makes the lips look moisturized and hydrated. The color is easy to remove too; it doesn’t leave a stain or a residue after being removed with a makeup remover, so it is hassle free. These look like a casual dupe of Nars Velvet Matte lip range! The color is bold coral and with flash it looks kind of pink! But I have no issues with that and I am in absolute love with this velvet stick!
