Essence Cosmetics have recently released their own empty palettes which you can fill with eyeshadows, lip powders and face powders – this line is called as “My Must Haves.” I picked around 4 single eyeshadows from this line and I have already reviewed the shade “04 Brownielicious.” Today, I would be reviewing the shade “Black as a Berry.”
$4 AUD for 1.7 gm.
The soft powder eyeshadows are easy to apply and blend for long-lasting results. simply choose your favorite colours of 20 eyeshadows and use the special click-mechanism to place them in the multifunctional palette.
My Experience with Essence My Must Haves Eyeshadow 18 Black as a Berry:
I am currently obsessed with these customizable palette and the “My Must haves” line currently has two empty palettes , a 4-pan and an 8-pan which we can customize I picked up the 4-pan palette. Essence offers 20 eyeshadows, 5 blushes, 3 lip powders, a pink lip base, a highlighter, a bronzer and a fixing powder in this line. The selection of colors and finishes is amazing. I picked up 4 eyeshadow pans and a 4-pan palette from this line. I also want to try the face products but they are not yet available in my local drugstore.
The single pans come in small, cute, cardboard sleeves and the actual pan has a transparent lid, which you have to remove before popping it into your empty palette. The shade details are given at the the back of the pan as well as the cardboard sleeve. The pan or the palette isn’t magnetic, you have to click the pans in and you’re good to go! The palette itself looks and feels very basic and simple and there are little inserts in the palette which makes it super easy to pop the pans out, whenever needed . The single pans are kind of flimsy because my son dropped these quite a few times and one of the shadows got broken a bit, but we can’t expect a stronger packaging at this price.
“Black as a Berry” is a dark berry violet shade though it has a satin matte finish. It also has tiny amount of shimmer which makes the shade more interesting. This is one deep shade we can use in the crease or all over the lid and we can also create a smoky eye. This shade is pretty creamy but it is not as buttery as the previous shade that I had reviewed (Brownielicious). It applies very well and has amazing pigmentation .It is not chalky or muddy, but it looks very natural and blends easily. This shadow doesn’t have any fallout either.
The lasting power of this shade is also good, it stays in place all day without moving around. With a primer, it stays for more than 8 hours and without a primer, it stays for around 5 hours which is pretty decent. The size of the pans is comparable to Makeup Geek eyeshadow pans ,it’s a great size for eyeshadows, but it may feel a bit small for face products. If you’re using bigger face brushes, your brush wouldn’t fit in there.
So overall, this is a really good shade with a nice quality and I am greatly really impressed with the cool concept of affordable customizable palette.
