Today, I am back with another eye shadow review. I noticed a few days back that I didn’t have a single black eye shadow. I checked online and Faces black eye shadow was out of stock, so I ordered a black eye shadow from Colorbar.
Read on to find out more about the eye shadow:
The eye shadow is a pigmented powder that gives the eyes a shine and pearl-like effect. Ultra fine in texture, it is easy to blend while its moisturising agent keeps your eyelids soft and smooth. This product is long lasting and fade resistant.
Rs. 300. They were priced at Rs. 225 a few months back.
The eye shadow comes in a cute little plastic silver-colored case with a transparent cover, so it’s easy to locate the shade. The case has two compartments. The upper one has an eye shadow pan and the lower one has a tiny round mirror and a curved sponge applicator. The applicator and mirror are of no use, they can be used for touch ups though.
My Take on Colorbar Eyeshadow Black Tie:
Black Tie is a black color with silver shimmer. The shimmer isn’t chunky. I have used this eye shadow on my crease and outer V, and the shimmer was barely visible on the eyes. If used as a lid color, shimmer doesn’t look over the top. I tried to use it as a thick eyeliner once, and it turned out to be quite well, somewhat similar to Colorbar I-Glide Pencil in Coal Mine. This is a good color for smoky eyes.
Like all the other Colorbar eye shadows, the texture of this eye shadow is also smooth, not buttery smooth, but still soft. It glides on easily on the lids and blends very easily with other eye shadows as well. There was no uneven patching during blending. There is almost no fallout while applying or after that, and the shimmer doesn’t spread all over the face.
Staying power of this eye shadow is very good. It stays on my oily lids for about 4-5 hours without any creasing with no primer underneath.
Using a base will increase the intensity and staying power of the eye shadow.
The eye shadow is decently pigmented. A single swipe without any primer underneath gives the required black color with appropriate shimmer, although sometimes, I like to layer it with two swipes to deepen the color.
Pros of Colorbar Eyeshadow Black Tie:
- This color works great for smoky eyes.
- Shimmer doesn’t look over the top if used as a lid color and is barely visible if used on the crease.
- Staying power is good.
- Texture is very smooth.
- There is almost no fall out.
- Shimmer doesn’t spread on the entire face.
- It blends easily with other eye shadows and there are no uneven patches during blending.
- It’s going to last a long time.
- Easily available.
Cons of Colorbar Eyeshadow Black Tie:
- They have increased the price.
- Shimmer might be a problem.
- Applicator and mirror are tiny and are not of much use.
Will I Repurchase/Do I Recommend Colorbar Eyeshadow Black Tie?
I like the texture and staying power of this eye shadow. I already have “Midnight Blue” and “Spicy Brown” from this range, and I won’t mind getting more colors. Black Tie is a beautiful color if you have no problem with the shimmer in it.
