My Experience with Essence The Velvets Eyeshadow 09 Bahama-Mama:

Starting the reviewing describing the packaging of the product – the eyeshadow comes in the regular essence eyeshadow packaging. There is a transparent plastic pan with a label at its base indicating the shade name, number and other details.

The clear lid shuts securely making an audible click sound making it fit for carrying around. The transparent lid helps to easily spot the shade in my makeup stash. The brand’s tagline has been printed on it in simple black fonts. It does not come with any applicator but this is not really a con for me as those small sponge applicators that are provided with such shadows are pretty useless. Overall, the packaging is good and I do not have any complaints with it.

“Bahama Mama” is a soft baby blue shade with a soft sheen to it. The shade is very soft, subtle and perfect for summers. The subtle sheen in the eyeshadow looks very pretty. There are finely milled micro shimmers that create a soft sheen, but this eyeshadow does not look like a typical shimmery eyeshadow. It is more like a matte color.

The pigmentation of this eyeshadow is decent and easily buildable. The opacity of this shade is remarkable. It shows up better with an eyeshadow primer underneath. A color intensifying base is a good choice to be used beneath such light colors to help them pop nicely. It looks lovely as a lid color.

The texture of this eyeshadow is soft and kind of velvety smooth as the tagline suggests. It does not feel chalky or powdery during application. It causes a little fallout. The quality of the product is decent. There are no major fallouts and no chalkiness in the texture. It glides easily on the eyes and it blends effortlessly.

It does not have the tendency to crease. The eyeshadow is not waterproof and fades easily. The longevity of the eyeshadow is average, around 3 hours on my eyelids. The same can be extended to 4-5 hours easily with an eye primer underneath. Overall, this is a beautiful summery shade.
