I just cannot do without my lip balm, be it at home or outdoors. I never realised how important it is to save your lips from sunburn till my lips got totally burnt. That is when I picked up this one. Packaging:
The lip balm comes in a cute white twist up tube with a picture of a hibiscus on it. Nothing fancy, just a simple and neat tube. It is travel-friendly and just fits into any of your makeup pouch or purse.
My Experience with Hawaiian Tropic Tropical Lip Balm SPF 45:
I stay at a place where the climate is extreme and hence I load on sunscreens. Apart from applying sunscreen on the body, it is very important to use a lip balm with SPF since the skin on the lips is very sensitive and can burn easily. The lip balm is transparent, almost white, just like any other Chapstick. The only difference is that it is sheer finish and doesn’t leave a white cast. So, you can wear it beneath your lipstick too.
It glides on smoothly and easily and gives a sheer and muted finish. It is non-greasy and gives a velvety feel. Even though it’s not visible you can still feel the moisturised layer on your lips. This product has really worked like magic for me. Earlier, a trip in the sun and my lips used to get badly burnt. But, this one has taken care of everything.
As the company claims, it works well on other dry areas too. They claim that it is water resistant for up to 80 minutes, but I am not sure. I haven’t gone swimming and not sure what’s the best way to check that claim. The only thing I dislike about the product is the smell and taste. It has a very sugary aftertaste, but since it’s taking care of my lips and provides a broad-spectrum protection, I don’t mind that.
It has a lot of fruit extracts and that could be the reason for the sugary aftertaste. I wish it had a tint too. This lip balm with SPF 45 provides more than essential protection from the damaging UVA and UVB rays. Please make sure that you always apply a lip balm with SPF, regardless of the season.

Will I Repurchase/Recommend Hawaiian Tropic Tropical Lip Balm SPF 45?
Most certainly. I have tried Banana Boat earlier and didn’t like the aftertaste at all. This is way better. This is – as they call it – “the perfect sunscreen stick”.
