How to Make Coconut Lip Balm at Home

Hey beauties ๐Ÿ™‚

I know it’s been a while since I last wrote, but I am back with a diy which is surely one of my favourites. So to start with, I have always been a lip balm addict. They are my favourite things ever! I have tried probably every lip balm in the market. Weather it be the very basic Vaseline, Himalaya, VLCC or tons of different baby lips, nothing so far has worked for me. I also tried the popular lip balms like Burt Bees or several EOS, or even The Body Shop lip balm; I couldn’t find my HG lip balm.

Also, I am a huge diy addict so I had to try making a lip balm myself. It took me a few days to collect all the required ingredients and ofcourse innumerable tries to get the perfect proportion of ingredients. Finally, I got the things together. So, here is how you can make a coconut lip balm which will make your lips smooth, soft and hydrated at home. Another thing I love about this lip balm is that it’s 100% natural and contains only 4 ingredients! So let’s get straight into it!

Ingredients needed:
โ€ข 3 tbsp Extra Virgin Coconut oil ( parachute and other coconut hair oils available in the market won’t help, look for extra virgin coconut oil, it’s really useful!).
โ€ข 1 tbsp grated beeswax.
โ€ข 2 capsules of Vitamin E oil.
โ€ข A small dash of honey.

You could also add in some Shea butter if you have it in hand and also some essential oil for a soothing smell. However, I personally feel nothing smells better than coconut oil!

Step 1- Collect all your ingredients. Now take an old grater and grate your beeswax. You only need a small piece of beeswax.

Step 2- Now take a large bowl and add some water to it and bring it to a boil. Now take your bowl with the beeswax and mix it in. Stir continuously so that the beeswax melts faster. Once it’s melted add the coconut oil and vitamin E oil in and keep stirring. In case your beeswax starts to harden, keep the bowl back on stove and it will melt down again. Once all the oils and wax have mixed up, add small dash of honey in it. Please don’t add too much! You surely don’t want your lip balm to get sticky. If you want some colour you could add in a small piece of lipstick to it, I however wanted it to be totally natural.

Step 3- Now that everything is mixed well together, take a container and QUICKLY transfer the content into the container. I have used a small container in which I previously had some facial cream, but I sterilised it so it was totally clean. In case you don’t like tub container, bring your empty stick balms to use! Just clean it very well and fill it with the content.
Let the container sit for a little while, or you could place it in the freezer to fasten the process up. Take it out after 10 minutes and here you have your natural, soothing lip balm!

This lip balm is great! It’s hydrating, natural and super inexpensive and literally takes no time to make! You could also make some and gift your girlfriends. If you are wondering where to get beeswax, look for it online. Beeswax is a must have as it can be used to make several natural products. In case you don’t get the ratio of the ingredients right in the first try, just melt down your lip balm and make the changes. In case your lip balms consistency is too smooth, add in some beeswax, or if it’s too hard add in some oil.

Weather or not you decide to make your lip balm, what I would totally recommend you to do is to choose a lip balm which is made up of natural ingredients and has no nasty chemicals in it whatsoever! Lip balm is one of those products which we intake most of the times. We don’t want to eat any of those harmful chemicals for sure! So definitely go through your lip balms ingredient list.

The lip balm provides moisture for 5-6 hrs which I love. The beeswax provides moisture and heals the lips. The coconut oil adds a lovely fragrance and of course moisturises your lips. Vitamin E oil acts as a preservative and also heals lips.

Hope you lovely ladies try this out! Have a lovely day!
