This is my first review for IMBB. Since this is a review of a skincare product, I think it’s best if you know a little about my skin type and the skin issues that I face.
I am in my early 20’s and have combination-oily (i.e. very oily at my T-Zone) skin that is very sensitive and acne-prone. My acne usually pops up during that time of the month or when I consistently eat junk food.
Since I’ve had to deal with pimples regularly, I needed a fast clearing treatment. My Lush Grease Lightning had stopped working for my skin. So after a lot of research about the brand and the product, I finally decided to get the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel.
I have been using this gel consistently (thanks to my breakouts) for more than 2 months now and I’ve understood how it works and it’s pros and cons. Read on to know more!
Claims: Results as good as a leading topical prescription in clearing acne. Our daily treatment gel starts clearing blemishes upon application. Helps prevent new ones from making an unwelcome appearance. Make visibly clearer skin a way of life.
Instructions: Apply a thin layer to entire face twice a day after cleansing. Or spot-apply if you are using another leave on blemish treatment.
Price: 1300 INR.
Quantity: 15 ml. (The product is also available in a 30ml size. Since I was trying it for the first time, I got the smaller size for myself)
Ingredients: Alcohol Denat, Water\Aqua\Eau, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel), Laminaria Saccharina Extract, Sea Whip Extract, Butylene Glycol, Benzalkonium Chloride
Active Ingredient: Salicylic Acid 1.00%
My Experience with Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel:
The Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel comes in a tiny blue bottle. You have to squeeze the product out through a small hole to apply it using your fingers or a Q-tip (Use your clean fingers as the Q-tip will absorb most of the product). The product does not have a complete gel like consistency, in fact, it is very clear, thin and almost liquid-y gel. It contains salicylic acid, which is a plus for me! I feel like salicylic acid products don’t leave scars on my skin as much a benzoyl peroxide products do. But maybe that’s just me; everyone’s skin is different. It smells like typical acne medication, but nothing too strong and the smell fades in a few seconds.
The first time I used this was along with my night time routine, so I used it as soon as I cleansed my face, then used some moisturizer and went to sleep (I made it a point to pat my moisturizer on my skin and not rub it all over). The next morning, I woke up, looked at my face and I was grinning like a kid who just opened her Christmas present!
The huge painful pimple I had on my chin was completely FLAT! The ones on the sides of my cheek had diminished to a large extent and I could cover them with one layer of foundation. The little whiteheads I had because I got my upper lip done – completely gone! I washed my hands, washed my face and touched my skin where I had pimples to see if they were really cured.
I use this gel as a spot treatment every time I have breakouts, both am and pm. But the SA also told me that I could use it all over my face, followed by a hydrating moisturizer. My most stubborn pimples heal in a maximum of 3 days. This is my holy-grail product!
However, while using this product, no matter what your skin type is, do follow-up with a moisturizer (with SPF during the day). The product can dry your skin out a little, causing your skin to produce more oils and clog your pores. The product dries clear and very quickly on application (maybe 10 seconds) so you can go on with the rest of your routine without waiting too long and also use makeup on top of it.
A little goes a long way if you use this as a spot treatment. I’ve used it everyday for 2 months and I haven’t even finished half of this tiny bottle yet! It did not irritate my skin or cause any bad reaction.
Pros of Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel:
- Clears stubborn acne very quickly.
- Does not irritate skin.
- A little goes a long way – this also makes it affordable to me.
- Easy to use and store.
- Travel friendly packaging.
- Clear gel, so goes invisibly under foundation, concealer or any other makeup.
- The product has a shelf life of 2 years.
Cons of Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel:
Can dry your skin a little (nothing drastic), so following up with a moisturizer is a must.
IMBB Rating: I rate this product a 4.8/5.
