Lately I was searching for a good foundation primer. The primers that I have contain silicone, but I wanted one without it. I accidentally found out about this product when I got this as a deluxe sample from Sephora. (They give one deluxe sample with every purchase of $100 or more). I selected it immediately among the choice of samples given, as I badly needed a primer free from silicones.
Around 2000 INR ($33)
Instantly smoothes wrinkles and provides an even skin surface, ensuring long lasting make-up application.
A little facts about the ingredients:
I never heard about the compound Quercetin before so I googled about it. Here’s what I found: According to American Cancer society, “Quercetin is a type of plant-based chemical, or phytochemical, known as a flavonoid. Good sources include apples, onions, teas, red wines, and many other foods. Quercetin is also available as a dietary supplement.” Moreover the website stated that, “Quercetin appears to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It has been promoted as being effective against a wide variety of diseases, including cancer.”
I was excited to know about the antioxidant properties. Who does not love a little antioxidant treatment on facial skin before torturing it with chemical filled make up products? 🙂 The other active ingredient is oak extract. Oak extract have medicinal values and it is used as antiseptic and anti inflammatory from centuries. It contains Jojoba seed oil which is an excellent moisturizer and fights many skin infections including acne.Hyaluronic acid, a natural acid helps to retain skin’s elasticity and fights wrinkle formation. It also functions as a moisturizer. Hordeum vulgare or barley extract helps to improve overall skin health. Spilanthes Acmella flower extract is an antioxidant, wrinkle smoother and collagen repairer.
My Experience with Korres Antiageing Primer:
The product is white and velvety in texture. It smells exactly like the Vitamin C tablets. I was not fond of the smell, but it subsides after a while. I was so excited to use the product. After washing my face with a mild face wash I applied a coin sized amount on my face and massaged thoroughly like a moisturizer. I was skeptical that it would turn out to be oily as it felt greasy while applying. But as I kept moving my fingers in a circular motion the whole product was absorbed completely in my skin. It felt like I had not applied anything. My skin felt moisturized sans the oiliness. It created a perfect base for applying my foundation. The make up looked even better as my skin was properly hydrated.
The staying power of the foundation was increased as it controlled oil for 5-6 hours during summers. In winters my skin become a little drier so it works even better. I cannot comment about the age defying properties. But I noticed lesser breakouts of my skin when I applied my foundation plus this primer. The primer evens out the minor imperfections and is neutral in color. It also helps to skip the moisturizer.
I am in so in love with this product that I use this as my night time moisturizer. I sometimes apply only this primer during daytime followed by my tinted Lotus sunscreen. It is a multipurpose primer, moisturizer, night cream product. I am going to order the full sized pack as soon as I finish this.
My skin type is oily and it worked fine for me. One with very dry skin may not find this moisturizing during winters. They will need to add a separate moisturizer. Dry skinned beauties can give this a try during summers.
Overall I am very happy with my new find and it has quickly became my H.G. primer.
