Packaging: The lipstick comes in a long black and brown tube with a clear cap. I always love color coded tubes as they are easy to find. The packaging looks nice but the bullet doesn’t go inside properly so it might damage. Hence, I always have to close the cap carefully. Otherwise, it is safe to carry around. According to the quality, it is an affordable matte lipstick.

Shade: The L.A.Colors matte lipstick range has 16 beautiful shades and I picked a couple of them for myself. The shade ‘Mysterious’ is a beautiful dark maroon red shade that looks super bold and attractive. I am not a big fan of bright reds; I actually prefer a dark red shade which complements my skin tone really well. This shade will suit a lot of skin tones.

It suits perfectly for a party makeup and totally enhances your natural beauty. The shade instantly brightens up my face and my lips look super gorgeous. It doesn’t contain any shimmers in it. Also, the shade is super pigmented and it needs a maximum of two swipes for the perfect color payoff. It can hide pigmented lips really well.

Texture and Quality: The lipstick has a smooth soft texture that glides easily on the lips and it provides an even application. Also, layering doesn’t make it heavy on the lips and it feels quite comfortable to wear. The lipstick doesn’t contain any shimmers and it has a perfect velvety matte finish that looks so amazing. It’s non-drying matte texture keeps my lips soft and moisturised for a long period of time. It never looks patchy nor it highlights any dry patches.

It works as a good matte lipstick which never feels dry. Most of the matte lipsticks make the lips dry but, it keeps my lips soft throughout the day. Only after 5-6 hours, it feels slightly dry which is not a bothering for me. Initially, it does transfer but, once it settles down properly, it stays nicely and doesn’t transfer or smudge. This minimal transfer never fades the color from your lips. Also, it never settles down into fine lines or doesn’t crease. I don’t like the smell of this particular shade alone.

Staying Power: This shade lasts longer on my lips for around 7 hours and can survive a meal as well. After a heavy oily lunch, it fades a little, which is pretty common. It never looks messy and never feels dry. It slightly settles into the fine lines by the end of the day but, it never looks bad. It is easy to remove as well. Overall, I love this lipstick for its texture and quality. Also, I love this super gorgeous shade. I have so many dark reds and this one has become my new favourite maroon red shade.
