My Experience with Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quad Emerald Smokes:

This quad comes in a small, rectangular, glossy, black-colored plastic palette with a see-through lid. The clear lid helps to easily spot the shade from your makeup stash if you own more than one of these eyeshadows.

The brand name is embossed on the lid. These palettes can be easily stacked up in my vanity. The lid fits very securely with an audible click, making this palette travel friendly. The palette comes with a dual ended sponge applicator, which is too small and kind of useless for me, as I do not use these small foam applicators. The entire product-related information is printed at the back of the palette. Overall, the packaging is nice and sturdy.

“Emerald Smokes” is a beautiful combination of gorgeous green eyeshadows. The shades are beautiful and are great for creating a perfect festive or party eye makeup look. The palette comes with 4 shades of eye shadows, each of which is designated a particular purpose. There is a base color, a lid color, a crease color and a liner. Now, let us discuss each shade one by one.

1. Base: The base color is beautiful light greenish shade with beautiful golden sheen. The color is shimmery and looks subtle gold on the eyes. It has finely milled gold micro shimmers in it, which makes it a beautiful highlighter shade. It is great for highlighting the inner corner and brown bones. In the eye swatch below, I have used this shade as the base color and for inner corner highlight. The pigmentation of this shade is nice and easily buildable. Two swipes of this eye shadow are good enough to achieve rich color.

2. Lid: This is the second shade. This shade is a mix of green+gold eyeshadow. The shade is shimmery and looks bright and beautiful on the eyelids. This is good in terms of pigmentation. One swipe is more than enough to build deep color.

3. Crease: The third shade is the crease color. It is a shimmery true green eye shadow. It is also loaded with fine golden shimmers, which makes it look even more beautiful. It defines the crease perfectly. The pigmentation of this eye shadow is good. Two swipes deposits perfect color on the eyes.

4. Liner: This is the darkest of all and has slightly matte finish. Though, it also contains shimmer but they are so sparse and hardly visible. It is a dark green eyeshadow. The color payoff of this particular shade is amazing. So, applying it with a light hand is advisable. This works great as an eyeliner too. I have used this shade on the lower lash line. It delivers rich and opaque color in just one swipe.

The texture of these eyeshadows is super soft and smooth. The smooth formula is super easy to blend. The formula is lightweight and comfortable on the eyes. It glides effortlessly on the eyelids without any tug or pull. All the shades are very easy to build and they do not look patchy. There are no creasing issues with this eye shadow. All the shades in this palette are easy buildable. The formula is non-powdery too. I really could not find any major fallout issues. It is not waterproof.

This eyeshadow lasts for approximately 5-6 hours on my eyelids with an eye primer underneath. The eyeshadow is easy to remove with a good eye makeup remover and the shimmers get removed easily without much effort.
