NYX Amber High Definition Blush Review

This is the third blush I bought from the NYX HD range, as part of my Ulta makeup haul. These HD blushes have a very classy, sophisticated look and come in multiple shades – in matte and shimmery finish, and since they have been newly launched in 2015, I had to have them 😛  Read on further to know more about this shade called “Amber.”

My Take on NYX Amber High Definition Blush:

These blushes by NYX are good dupes of NARS blushes because they have HD finish and awesome pigmentation; however, they are better because they are much cheaper and come in a pretty, sophisticated packaging.

Packaging: Product is in a plastic pan – square with curved corners. The compact is slim and sleek, and they include the signature NYX bow clasp. Product is set in an aluminum pan and the lid is clear and see-through and makes color identification easier.

Texture:  It’s a compact powder blush with little fall out and no shimmer. It is very smooth and feels light on the skin. Texture is on the plus side because it makes blending easy and fast and gives a pretty satin flush to face.

Color:  Pale pink color with cool undertones. It is barely visible on my skin but I can still work with it when I need a “barely there” flush to my face, but otherwise, this particular gives me a washed out look which most of us detest. This color; however, is perfect for very pale, neutral skin tones.

Pigmentation:  Quite okay, not commendable pigmentation, mostly because it is a very pale, pink shade to begin with. When applied with a fluffy blush brush, two to three light dusting of blush is required to give color to both my cheeks. Start with just the tiniest dab on blush brush and work up from there as per the required intensity of color. The paler skin tone beauties don’t require multiple sweeps but someone with deeper skin tone like mine would require more product and blending.

Shimmer and Shine:  It has no shimmer or shine and gives a natural, matte finish.

Staying Power:  Staying power is really impressive and it will easily last am entire day or till it is removed.

NYX Amber High Definition Blush

This is a very pretty blush which comes in 24 shades and most of these colors have good reviews online. This particular blush is very pale and subtle and is something I won’t go out of my way to buy with since I did; I put to good use by pairing it with bold eye makeup.

Pros of NYX Amber High Definition Blush:

  • Love the packaging – cute and slim.
  • Good quantity for money paid.
  • Pale pink color with neutral undertones.
  • Gives a very subtle flush with satin finish.
  • Amazing staying power.
  • Comparable to expensive blushes.
  • Pocket friendly.
  • Matte finish.
  • Little fall out.
  • Smooth texture.
  • Feels light on skin.

Cons of NYX Amber High Definition Blush:

  • It is meant for paler skin tones.
  • Not that visible on my complexion.
  • Pigmentation could have been better.

Would I Repurchase NYX Amber High Definition Blush?

No, because it would last me a long time but would ask others to buy this shade only if they love pale pink shades or have pale skin tone.

IMBB Rating:
3/5 (only because I don’t like the shade).
