Recently, I had reviewed the shades Summer Fruit and Pink Macaroon from the NYX Intense Butter Gloss range. Today’s review will be in the shade, Cherry Custard. Now, I have seen these three available in a set as well. But, unfortunately, it was out of stock and I had to order them individually.
Smother your lips with a silky gloss bursting with color! Our Intense Butter Gloss has the same mouth watering texture and scent of the original formula with even more color payoff in 12 new delectable shades.

My Experience with NYX Intense Butter Gloss – Cherry Custard:
Packaging: NYX, being a very economical brand does not generally have big and classy packaging. The intense butter gloss comes in color coded plastic bottles which help in identifying the shade easily. It has a plastic cap which holds the applicator. The details as to the name, number and ingredients of the shade are written on the plastic bottle itself. The applicator is a doe foot shaped one and is good enough for the purpose. I feel it picks up more product than required but then, it can be worked around. The gloss bottle is small and sturdy and hence travel-friendly.
Shade: Cherry Custard is a very pretty sober red shade. It is a red lipstick with blue undertones. It is not very vibrant or over the top bright. This red is a very matured shade. There are no shimmers in it. Being a gloss, it has a nice glossy finishing to it. This is a shade that will not only suit all skin tones but, also will suit all age groups. Also, since it is very sober, it can be worn in office as well.
Texture and Pigmentation:
These intense butter glosses are one step ahead of the NYX Butter glosses in terms of the feel and consistency. As the name suggests, these are truly buttery soft. When you apply it on the lips, you will feel as though, you are actually applying butter. They glide on the lips with no efforts at all. The consistency of the intense butter gloss is quite thick just like the liquid lipsticks in the market now.
They are not at all watery. At the same time, it is not very extremely thick, the types which would make application a little bit difficult. Although these are glosses, they have amazing pigmentation and impart a near to opaque thick layer on the lips. Cherry Custard is a shade that will cover pigmentation to a good extent. Unlike Summer Fruit and Pink Macaroon, cherry custard has a better application and strokes of the sponge are not visible on the lips.
I like at least two layers of Cherry Custard to get a nice evened out application. But then, with layering, it feels a little heavy on the lips. Because it is buttery, you have to take the right amount or else you will feel a lot of heaviness on the lips if an extra product is used. Also, I see it bleeding a bit outside the lip lines. Remember to prep up the lips, as this shade tends to highlight uneven and dry patches. Also since it is thicker in consistency, it will cling on to rough patches and look crumbled.
Being a gloss I didn’t expect it to last longer and I was right. It hardly lasted for 2-3 hours and that too without eating or drinking at all. Once you start eating and drinking, it will be all gone from your lips and onto the cutlery. It will not survive a complete meal. It leaves a rosy tint behind when it goes. It is not overly moisturising(remember I have super dry lips) but, feels like a balm on the lips. I also find it a little sticky initially. but then, it wears out eventually.
I like how they look and many of the cons mentioned above could be worked around if not all. Exfoliation with properly lined lips and careful application will help with few cons here. These are very affordable and have a wide range of shades available for selection. As I said earlier that with NYX different shades within the same range behave differently. But I personally like this shade as it imparts a more matured look.

Will I Recommend/ Repurchase NYX Intense Butter Gloss – Cherry Custard?
I would definitely recommend this shade but, won’t buy it again as I want to try new ones and get quite bored easily with the same shade again and again. Also, as I mentioned earlier that the three shades I reviewed are available in a set form and are more economical than the individual product. But, you need to be lucky for the stock to be available.
