My Experience with Prestige BE 22 Lightning Waterproof Automatic Eyeliner:

I don’t know why any company would name their green eyeliner ‘Lightning’. That makes me think of a grey or even a blue, but not a green. Unluckily, I don’t have the fun job of naming makeup products so let’s dive straight into my review.

Prestige is a drugstore product from America, now available in India too. Their Waterproof Automatic Eyeliners come in 10 deep shades. The shade BE 22 Lightning is a deep green shade with a metallic finish. The packaging is plastic and it comes in a twistable pencil form. The shade of the eyeliner is the shade of the body (helpful if you need to quickly pull it out from a bunch of your eyeliners) and its cap is steel grey in color.

There are a lot of good ingredients in this eyeliner like the Candililla wax, Carnauba wax and Castor oil which make it very smooth during application. You don’t need to apply a lot of pressure, it just glides on your skin. A winged eye liner isn’t hard to accomplish with this which essentially makes this product pretty kick-ass for me! I also really like that it’s retractable. So firstly, I don’t need to carry a sharpener with this, and secondly if I twist out too much I can twist the rest back. I don’t appreciate when a makeup company doesn’t make an eye liner or lip liner retractable. I feel like they’re just trying to con us!

Again the application of this is very smooth, indeed. It is so waterproof that even if it rained heavily when you were wearing it, it wouldn’t smudge; unless, you rubbed your eyes really hard. I have tried running my hand in water when I first swatched this and I can conclude that it doesn’t smudge, unless I rub it. The lasting power is really good. It’s the same with or without primer. It has lasted me on a full 10 hour work day without smudging. This also has some very fine gold glitter particles in it, but that’s only visible if you look very closely when smudging it with a brush on your lash line. But, you got to smudge quickly ladies as it gets settled within two minutes of application and by then you don’t want to be assaulting your eye lids for the look you want. This green is also beautiful to layer under a nude smoky eye look for the day or a heavier green and black smoky eye look for the night.

As a dupe of Mac Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner in Undercurrent:

These two eyeliners have extremely similar base shades. Of course, the MAC one is a lot smoother (I don’t know what they use in MAC products; some kind of magical unicorn saliva to make it smooth, maybe), but this is pretty creamy too. Both the products have equally fine glitter, but the main difference between the two is that the MAC Undercurrent is much more glittery and the fine gold glitter can be seen in a single swatch where as in Lightning, you have to smudge it to release the glitter. And, the MAC one has a lot more glitter which is a bolder gold. However, the glitter is lost when you try to smudge it.

So, you can say that Lightning is a sort of muted version of the MAC undercurrent (only in terms of glitter) and therefore can be useful for mature women too or for those who’d want the colour payoff without all the shine on their eyes.

In all the swatches, I’ve used the eyeliner on my upper lash line and smudged it on the lower lash line. (I’ve done all the swatches without any make up on – no concealer, primer, mascara, foundation, lipstick or anything as I wanted to keep only this eyeliner under limelight. So, please excuse my under eye area aka my pits of doom and anything else that doesn’t look straight out of Vogue ladies. I was super nervous sending in these to IMBB and I just feel naked ‘cuz I can’t hide behind my makeup eeks!).
