Okay, can we all please take a moment and appreciate the Soap and Glory product names. I mean “Hand Food”, Solar Powder, One heck of a blot and of course our very own, “Sexy Mother Pucker,” the beauty I’m reviewing today. Lip plumping lipsticks and glosses are the talk of the town these days and I believe it’s one of the greatest inventions in makeup history. I have a thin upper lip and a comparatively thicker bottom lip and quite honestly, I have contemplated getting a lip job done quite a few times, not to make them plumper, but to get them even. Months of research about the product and trying a zillion lip plumping products later, I can finally say that I am impressed.

Packaging:

The lip gloss comes in a regular lip gloss tube that’s see-through with the name in big bold letters. It’s a plastic tube that looks like frosted glass with the traditional doe-foot applicator.

Performance of the product:

I have to say I wasn’t a fan of the product at first.  It’s everything you don’t want your lip gloss to be, its very sticky and thick. The kind of stickiness that gets your hair (and everything else) to stick to your lips in no time. But the thing is, this is a plumping lip gloss and as far as the plumping factor is concerned, it’s a hit.

Let’s be honest, you can’t expect to apply a lip gloss and have your lips magically transform into Priyanka Chopra like lips. The lip gloss starts to tingle within about 30 seconds of application and people who don’t enjoy that feeling should stay away from this product. The tingle is intense and you can almost feel your lips buzzing. The buzzing stopped for me in about 15 minutes and by then my lips were definitely plumped up. Like I said, don’t expect magical results.  The fine lines on my lips had also reduced. The lip gloss goes on almost as a clear gloss and the colour payoff was zero on my pigmented lips. Because the gloss is so sticky, it stays put for 3-4 hours, without eating or drinking, which is good for a lip gloss. The scent is divine. It smells like you have a fruity, chocolatey biscuit on your lips and I quite enjoy that. What I don’t enjoy though is that it tastes sweet and the fact that once the lip gloss is gone, lips get really dry.

I don’t know whether you can tell from the pictures if the lip-plumping gloss really worked on my lips, but I personally felt it made a little difference and a little is good because thus far, no other plumping lip gloss has worked for me in that area.

Cons of Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss in Yummy Plum:

• Goes on clear on the lips.
• The tingle is very strong.
• Leaves lips dry and chapped.
• Sticky and thick.

All in all, if I see this only as a lip plumping lip gloss as opposed to a regular lip gloss, I would say this is pretty darn impressive. Although as a regular lip gloss, the colour payoff is next to none and it is sticky.

Would I Repurchase Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss in Yummy Plum?

Not soon. I would like to try other lip plumping products.
