Tarte Natural Lip Stain with LipSurgence in Moody Review
I am very happy to announce that this is my 51st post on IMBB 🙂 It has been a pleasant journey throughout from March 2011. Hoping to be associated for longer time with IMBB. Thanks to one and all for making this happen.
Okay, let’s come back to our product under review. Its the “Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Moody.”
This natural lip tint is clinically proven to increase lip’s moisture content. These anticipated natural gel lip tints are an extension to our best-selling and award-winning cheek stains and like our iconic stains each emotive, peppermint-infused shade glides on smooth for a natural flush that will stay all day. Earth engineered from a proprietary blend of plant bio-nutrients, our LipSurgence technology quickly absorbs into the skin delivering a surge of moisture on a cellular level, effectively and naturally increasing skin’s water content for a ‘plumped up’ appearance. The result is naturally fuller, healthier lips without any irritation or stinging.
Jojoba seed oil: Easily absorbed leaving skin soft, supple and smooth.
Peppermint Oil: Cools and soothes inflammed or irritated skin.
Vitamin C: Antioxidant that fights free radical damage and prevents oxidative stress and premature signs of aging, while brightening skin
Vitamin E: Natural preservative that also acts as as anti-inflammatory emollient and protects against free radical damage.
$24 for full size.
My Experience Tarte Natural Lip Stain with LipSurgence in Moody:
Tarte is the brand which makes products from natural ingredients and avoids harmful chemicals. I was thrilled when I got to know about this product, but the price was stopping me from buying this product. When I bought a lip product kit recently, it came with a mini size Tarte Lip Surgence Lip Stain in Moody. The presence of this product was one reason for me to pick that kit.
It comes in a mechanical pen type packaging. I find the packaging very user friendly, can toss it in the bag and use it on the go. It gives more control over traditional lipstick packaging.
Moody is a deep berry shade. It goes on as sheer maroon when applied lightly and it is buildable. To me, it resembles of the lips of ladies chewing pan all the time minus the scary stained teeth 😛
This is the first lip stain that I am using. Usually people say lip tint tends to make the lips dry, but with this one, I have not faced that problem. This has a unique texture. Feels like a lip balm when applied and goes on super smooth on the lips. It does not actually give a plumped up look to the lips, but gives healthy and natural lips, but as time passes, the shine goes off and you will just see the color on your natural lips. If you have more fine lines on your lips, it will not hide them, but will not accentuate them either. Hope I made it clear 😛
Smell and Feel:
It smells minty and feels cool when applied on to the lips. The cool feeling goes off after the shine goes off. It does not have any taste.
Considering the fact that this is one of their dark shades, it fades off in about 2 hours leaving a red tint on the lips. Though the lips kind of looks dry, it does not feel uncomfortable at all. So, I apply a lip balm over it or re-apply the lip tint. Both ways, that gets back the healthy look to the lips.
Let me break the long review and put down their pros and cons:
Pros of Tarte Natural Lip Stain with LipSurgence in Moody:
- Does not contain mineral oil, paraben, phthalates and SLS.
- Goes on smooth and gives natural finish, which is buildable.
- Keeps lips hydrated.
- Feels cool on the lips due to the peppermint oil in it.
- Contains minty smell.
Cons of Tarte Natural Lip Stain with LipSurgence in Moody:
- It is quite expensive, but they had come up with the holiday set of 5 such Lipsurgence products for less than $30.
- It does not give the lips the plumped-up appearance as they claim.
It is a lip product that gives the natural stained look to the lips, without the chemical ingredients in it. It was altogether a new experience for me and I liked it. The shade I have is not an everyday kind. I want to try it in different shades. So, will try to buy their holiday set when they come up with that one.
