My Experience with The Body Shop Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation:
As I told you before, The Body Shop came out with a new foundation and also a makeup sponge. The foundation is made from mattifying clay and purifying tea tree. The sponge has a wide bottom and a sharp tip, and I will review that in a separate post. I had great expectations for both. Did they live up to my expectations? If you want to find out more about the foundation, keep reading.
The Body Shop Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation comes in a simple, easy-to-use squeezy plastic tube with a pointed nozzle opening which makes it easy to control the amount of product that comes out of the tube. The tube also has the shade name on the front end of the tube and also as other details and ingredient list at the back of the tube. The packaging is simple and travel-friendly.
There are total 10 shades in this foundation range, which is pretty limited according to me. I chose the shade “Moluccan Nutmeg” which is the ninth shade in the line. I am an NC45 in MAC, and if I had to choose the last but one shade, then it typically means there is no shade for deep skinned beauties. So, I really hope that TBS comes with more shades in the future as this is a pretty good product. One more thing which I want to say is that the price of this one is damn cheap, especially considering the brand from which it has come from; it is cheaper than most of the drugstore foundations here in Australia.
This is a 100% vegan foundation. It contains Moroccan Lava Clay which is a mineral-rich clay that helps in the treatment of dehydrated, sensitive skin and enlarged pores. It also helps build and strengthen elasticity of the skin. Moreover, it improves circulation and is suitable for all skin types. This foundation also contains Tea Tree which is clinically proven to give you clearer skin. The foundation is formulated without petrolatum and mineral oil. It is suitable for sensitive skin. The foundation promises matte high coverage, 24-hour long wear, shine control, breathable wear, clearer looking skin and non-pore clogging. In my opinion, it pretty much lives up to its claims.
The consistency of this product is like a semi-thick liquid, not too thick or too thin. I usually wear foundations only with a primer. Usually, I prime my face with Rimmel Stay Matte Primer and on that primer, the foundation sits well.
I put a little on my hand and from there, tap my sponge on it to apply foundation on to my face. It is easy to blend with a sponge and also with a brush. The application was really easy and it blended beautifully into my skin whilst leaving an amazing full coverage effect with, of course, its matte finish. I have already reviewed TBS Fresh Nude Foundation which gives a dewy finish to the skin but this particular foundation contains clay; it mattifies quite quickly and the finishing look is smooth and matte. It felt light and comfortable and almost like nothing on my skin. Honestly, it felt and looked flawless on the skin.
This product contains all-natural ingredients which make it suitable for all the skin types and makes the skin breathe well throughout the day without clogging the pores. This will be a boon for oily and also sensitive skin types. This will also work for dry skin types as the ingredients are 100% natural, so they will not do anything damaging to the skin and it all adapts to your natural pH.
The foundation has good coverage and it stayed on well through the entire day. The overall result of this foundation is a high coverage matte finish and has the highest ‘The Body Shop’ foundation coverage. It did last the WHOLE day, I didn’t have to touch up at all! Sometimes, matte foundations can be quite dry which causes the foundation to become patchy through the day but this foundation did none of this. And, the best part of all, the full coverage did not feel thick in the slightest! It felt so lightweight and comfortable all day, which is amazing for such a high finish foundation.
One more thing which I love about this is that it brightens the face and makes the makeup look all the more refreshing and fresh. It doesn’t oxidize on the skin which is a good thing. I absolutely love this foundation. It will definitely be my go-to foundation and I would HIGHLY recommend this foundation to anyone. Many people avoid high coverage foundations due to the thick feeling, but like I said, it’s the complete opposite. So, if you want a change, a lightweight foundation and a flawless matte finish, then get your hands on this magical product soon.
