Hello my gorgeous IMBBians,
A very happy Lohri, Pongal and Makar Sankranti to you all! How cool it is to celebrate the onset of spring throughout the nation with the same joy and passion. We call it “Uttrayani” while the rest of the nation celebrates this festival as Lohri/Pongal. This is the beauty of our nation – unity in diversity 🙂 Anyway today, I am here to share another gift from my hubby, it’s a shimmery nail paint from Urban Decay called “Chaos.” It’s a beautiful cobalt nail polish with blue shimmer, probably my first favorite nail paint with shimmer, which is subtle and creamy, like the previous Mrs. Mia Wallace nail paint that I had reviewed here. So, let’s talk in detail about Urban Decay Nail Color – Chaos today.
$15 for 0.20 Fl Oz (9 ml), price varies during festive season across designer cosmetic stores or websites.
Long-wearing and chip-resistant, our formula has a high-gloss finish that’s tough and durable, yet flexible and each shade is 3-free—formulated without toluene, formaldehyde or DBP. Our custom-designed cap is topped with a skull (complete with roses for the eyes). Each FULL-SIZE bottle holds 10 ml of nail polish—plenty of color to last all season long. And wait until you try our high-performance, 400-strand brush. The fine strands pick up more product than other brushes, grabbing on to color to give you a clean, even and controlled lay down of polish. Incredibly precise, this brush even makes painting the outer corners of your nails easy. (Yes, it’s that good).
Full Size: 9 ml / 0.30 fl oz
This creamy yet shimmery nail color comes in a sleek, transparent and sturdy glass bottle with metallic silver cap (not like the black one from pulp fiction collection). The quality and look of the brush applicator is exactly similar to the previous nail polish though. I totally love how the “Urban Decay” embossed on the cap apart from the packaging and brush applicator. A total treat for eyes, nails and vanity kit.
My Experience with Urban Decay Chaos Nail Color:
Well, I love cobalt blue after green and orange nail colors, hence I am happier to have got this shimmery cobalt blue nail polish from Urban Decay. I love the fact that the presence of shimmer increases the glam factor of this creamy nail polish without looking frosty or over the top. It enhances my natural skin tone with youthful glow. I am not fan of shimmers but this shimmery nail polish stole my heart with its subtle blue shimmers which are hardly noticeable once they dry on nails. In fact they deliver such wearable shine and glossy finish to nails.
The texture of nail polish is slight runny yet buttery in consistency, somewhat similar to that of Mrs. Mia Wallace with exactly similar finish on my nails. However, it does seem slightly streaky and sheer upon first coat and a second coat is needed for even and glossy finish, which is perfect.
I love that it requires a maximum of two coats to give that perfect glossy cobalt shimmery pigmentation with no feathering or settling around nail cuticles. It dries out pretty quick, thereby easing out the task of multiple coats and/or carrying on our usual tasks. I feel it is a must-have for messy mums like me who usually rush for nail polishes in the last hour.
Moreover, the glossy sheen and nail polish stays put for good 7-8 days with heavy duty laundry/kitchen work. I usually notice chipping after a week. I am also impressed to see that it does not leave any patch or stain behind after removing it off the nails unlike some other deeper nail polishes. My nails feel normal with no nasty yellow patches. Overall, I am really impressed with this nail color “Chaos” and also Mia Wallace, and I would definitely love to get them again and also would like to try the other shades from this collection. I would say just go and grab them, they are too good to skip.
Let’s sum up the pros and cons:
Pros of Urban Decay Chaos Nail Color:
- A shimmery yet creamy buttery consistency cobalt blue nail color.
- The shimmer is way subtle on the nails.
- The nail polish settles down to a creamier, even finish, intense pigmented cobalt blue shade on nails with high glossy shine.
- Both the nail color and glossy shine stays put for as long as 6+ days with heavy duty kitchen/laundry tasks.
- Looks extremely flattering on my pale/light skin and I am sure it will look equally gorgeous on medium/tan skin.
- Does not leave any stain behind.
- DBP, Toluene and formaldehyde free formulation.
- The sleek and long brush applicator ensures effortless coating and functioning in the narrow regions of the nails.
- Attractive, user friendly, and travel-friendly packaging.
Cons of Urban Decay Chaos Nail Color:
- Might come out slightly streaky in one coat.
- Sometimes it looks quite goopy in the bottle.
Well, I think these cons are insignificant to be taken into account as I am already determined to shop for a few more from the collection including both these shades for my family. If you are a fan of shimmer and if you love cobalt blue, then this color is totally your shade, go grab it 🙂
