My Experience with Urban Decay Liar Revolution High-Color Lipgloss:
When I bumped into this set, I was quite apprehensive about buying it as one looked to be a sheer nude and the other appeared to be a sharp fuchsia pink but then, after thinking about Neetu’s back-to-back addictive reviews about this lip gloss range, I thought why not begin with by trying this cute, travel-friendly pack. And, that is how I am a happy owner of these two glosses.
The packaging is something that anyone would fall for. It is very cute and very travel-friendly, in fact if you have got just a clutch where you cannot dump things, this cute and small gloss is the best option. My only greedy thought as far as the packaging goes is that I was expecting to see a nice double-shaded packaging, like the ones you get for the full-size tubes. But, upon seeing the cute and short lip gloss tubes, I was overwhelmed. I simply cannot help adoring the way they look when I use them each time.
These are just miniature versions of the full-size tubes and come in a quilted plastic short tube with a quilted black shiny cap that connects to the applicator. The tube has ‘Urban Decay’ embossed on top of the cap. The tube, although small, carries all the specifications but your eyes might get strained while reading the information. The paddle-shaped applicator is short and stubby and picks up a tear-drop of the product that can give a nice color in just one swipe. With three dips of this spongy applicator, you should be able to obtain an even finish.
‘Liar’ is a sophisticated brownish-pink colored gloss with mild coral undertones that is shimmer-free. This set and gloss from ‘Urban Decay’ is truly a revolution in terms of setting standards for a gloss. The range has a wide variety of shades that you can choose from. Liar can be a good shade to begin with, or to put it even better – this duo pack can be good to begin with. The shade ‘Liar’ is a jackpot for neutral shade lovers, more so if they’re into a lot of eye makeup.
Pair it with a bold winged liner and a warm blush, and I am sure this gloss will add ‘oomph’ to all your black-based party or evening outfits. Be open-minded about this gloss as nudes often give a washed out look to your face. But, if you are really on the extreme skin tone side, be it fair or dark, then skip it. This color is ideal for daily use, be it casual, formal or for setting a party mood.
Texture and Finish:
The texture and feel of the gloss are not extraordinary but definitely excellent. The gloss is semi-creamy and feels light on the lips. The hydrating formula of the gloss fades evenly; it leaves a nice, even, natural stain depending on the color. The stain that ‘Liar’ leaves behind is natural and this makes reapplication easy. The gloss can be used around the year.
It does not make dry lips obvious. The finish is so good that the product does not eventually bleed or feather upon fading. The semi-creamy formula is not so dense hence offers a nice finish in just one swipe. You can go without a lip balm or a liner for this one. For fuller-looking and lusciously painted pouts, opt for a subtle neutral or soft pink colored lipstick and add a coat of this gloss, and the look is sure to perk up the party makeup.
Pigmentation and Staying Power:
Even if you are not a huge fan of glosses for reasons like they contain shimmer or for the low staying power and the not so good color payoff, this one is bound to impress you as it has got very good levels of pigmentation even for a gloss. It also offers a very good color payoff. A single coat would give you a natural pinkish-brown wash of color and a nice two to three coats of the gloss would give you a luscious looking brownish-pink pout.
Usage and Overall Performance:
Liar is a really pleasant pink-nude non-shimmery gloss that can be worn with minimal makeup. The trick behind pulling off this lip color better is by opting for a bold and heavy eye makeup. Or, to simply put it across, highlight your eye makeup by going for something like a thick winged liner or smokey eyes along with two coats of Liar. This pinkish nude colored gloss as a whole pleases me as I tend to lean more towards soft corals or pink-based nudes.
Another advantage that I see about this casual and beautiful nude shade is that despite being a gloss, it offers a color payoff in a way that you would not essentially require a liner. So, for parties or fancy evening outings, do opt for this warm nudish- pink from ‘Urban Decay’ along with makeup to suit your skin tone and complexion. Do not be judgmental about the fact that nudes would wash you out. You’ve always got tips on IMBB to help you with such shades.
