My Experience with Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover Dissolving Spray:

I picked a few makeup removers from the brand “Urban Decay,” and this is the first one that’s up for review. This one is a makeup dissolving spray and it contains only three ingredients (which is amazing) and it is also free of parabens. It is supposed to remove the most stubborn kind of makeup, which is what we all want.

Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover Dissolving Spray details

I tried using this makeup remover in two ways – the first way that I used it (because it is a spray makeup remover) – I sprayed it all over my face and massaged it into my skin. This way, it literally dissolved all the stubborn makeup, especially mascara and liquid lipstick, which is excellent, but then, it also left my skin very oily and greasy. Also, when I tried to wash my face with warm water, the oil got all spread on the face instead of washing off. If you use this method, you have to remove the oil either using a micellar water afterwards or a face wash to get rid of the oil and the ‘dissolved makeup’. It was not the best experience ever.

Then I tried it the second way, which is how the brand has suggested, which is to spray the remover on a cotton ball/wipe, and then just wipe away all makeup. This way, it took down the mascara, most of the foundation and everything (I did a small demo on Instagram showing that), but it didn’t take off the entire makeup with just the cotton ball. Afterwards when I did the Bioderma test, a lot of foundation was still left, which is fine with me because I anyway do double and triple cleansing when I have a full face of makeup on; it is not just one product, but the only thing I didn’t like was how greasy my face looked and got after using this product.

Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover Dissolving Spray

When I used this remover spray on a cotton ball, I had to use three to four four cotton balls to get rid of all the makeup. But it is a very, very powerful makeup remover and it’s actually pretty good, but it just feels weird. When you spray it on, it feels like a mist and then it kind of leaves your skin very oily. You have to leave it on for 30 seconds, massage it and then it breaks down the makeup. It says that it is oil free, but it definitely is not oil free. It didn’t break me out and it even didn’t not cause any irritation to my eyes, it was quite gentle on the skin. My normal to dry skin didn’t feel dry. It’s just kind of a little weird texture to work with and to remove stubborn makeup, I think I like duo makeup removers more than this one, and I will stick to them. This makeup remover doesn’t have any weird smell to it.

Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover Dissolving Spray how it works

I am okay with this product – I am like not too sold with the concept and I am not totally disregarding it because it ‘dissolves’ the most stubborn makeup, but it just feels a little weird on the skin because you know in the evening, when you are taking off the makeup , it should be more of a relaxing process, a pleasurable job. But this kind of feels a bit odd because the moment that whole oil kind of a thing comes on your face, you would instantly just want to get rid of it from your face and not really massage it into your skin, if you know what I mean.

So, for me, I will use it till I have it because I am not a fan of this dissolving spray and would not repurchase it.
