I received a sample of this shampoo in my Sephora Play beauty box for the April month. I was impressed by the performance of this shampoo and decided to buy a full size bottle. This is the first time I bought a full size product of a sample I received for trial. Samples are usually not enough to decide the full performance of a product, but in this case I was impressed by this shampoo after using it for one hair wash and ordered it from Sephora.
A shampoo that gently cleanses hair, provides weightless lift, and protects color for a voluminous, smooth, and tangle-free finish.
$36 for 1000 ml
My Experience with Verb Volume Shampoo:
The product comes in a white, translucent bottle with a pump dispenser on top. 33.8 oz bottle has a pump on top, whereas other two smaller sizes are squeeze kind. The bottle is easy to store in shower caddy bit is certainly not travel-friendly.
I shampoo my hair after hot oil treatment. I usually let the oil sit overnight and then shampoo the next day. I start with my scalp and then work my way down. I take a small amount of shampoo and create lather to wash my scalp and then work the lather down to my hair ends. I do this process twice and no more to avoid stripping my hair of all the oil. I used a coat button size amount of shampoo twice to rinse my hair and followed it with the conditioner from the same brand. It claims to be sulphate free but still lathers well because of other, apparently less damaging surfactants in it. They are the highest percent ingredient after water and it is a concern for all those who seek a chemical free shampoo, but even then I find this shampoo by Verb milder than other shampoos that claim to be sulphate free.
This product is also devoid of parabens, glutens and phthalates. It cleanses hair while providing weightless volume and lift and does not weigh down hair like some other hydrating and volumizing shampoos. It is also safe for chemically treated and colored hair. It claims to have a color-safe formula which leaves hair touchably soft, refreshed, and protected. I do not have colored or treated hair, so I cannot comment on this regard but I am sure it is gentle for hair. This shampoo also has a very subtle and pleasant fragrance which lingers in hair for couple of days. It also preps hair for heat treatment or styling and also a conditioner can be avoided by those who do not have excessively frizzy hair.
Pros of Verb Volume Shampoo:
- For $36, we get a bid bottle of shampoo that will last a while.
- Paraben, gluten and sulphate free.
- Cleans hair in just a couple of washes and leaves them smooth and adds volume without stripping it of its natural oil.
- Has a very pleasant fragrance which lasts for a couple of days.
- Can be bought in Sephora or from its online retail store.
- Safe for chemically treated hair and protects hair color.
Cons of Verb Volume Shampoo:
- Can be a little too expensive for some of us. It is definitely more expensive for me and I have to be very judicious while using it.
- Does not contain sulphate compounds but it does contain other surfactants that are still damaging but in a less obvious way.
- Bottle is not travel-friendly but smaller sizes can be bought for travel and trial purposes.
IMBB Rating: 4.5/5
Do I recommend Verb Volume Shampoo?
I was impressed by this shampoo in the first trial itself and that is why I decided to invest in a full size bottle. Those among us who suffer from same kind of hair issues like me (frizz and dryness) should benefit from this shampoo and will surely enjoy it.
