T-shirt Cutting

Let’s be honest. We all have stuff in our closet that we never use and never will. And one of the many such things stuffed in our wardrobes is a basic t-shirt. T-shirts are basic separates in any closet. But we do have some particular t-shirts stashed away somewhere that are either too big, or too fitted, or just simply too boring for us.

When this pile of non functional t-shirts, sitting at the back of your closet, stare at you, grab a pair of scissors and give it a touch of your creativity. A little cutting and sowing will transform your boring t-shirt into something new and unique!

Why should you cut your t-shirt?

  • Saves money!! Do you need a better reason??
  • You get to wear something different from your friends, something that no one else on this planet owns!
  • You get to channel your creative juices and you get a new piece of garment at the same time.
  • The t-shirt you create is YOUR PERSONAL style statement!

Ok so now that we are convinced to explore our creativity, lets look for some inspiration. There is a lot that you can do with a humble a t-shirt and transform it into something completely different. Look at these videos and choose whatever suits you:

1. Cutting T-shirt into a cute off shoulder top

This is the best thing you can do with a slightly fitted t-shirt. Its very easy and fun to do. You will need only a pair of scissors for this. The final product looks like a top straight out of a designer store.

2. Cutting T-shirt into sexy one piece dress

Yes. It is possible!! This DIY technique is of moderate level of difficulty. You will need a pair of scissors, sewing machine or a needle and thread and some patience. But the dress will be worth it.

3. Playing with the sleeves!

This video explains how to play up the sleeves of your t-shirt in 8 different ways! And all of them look super cool. Check it out:

4. Backless top

This backless top will surely rock up any girl’s wardrobe. The great thing about this one is that it is suitable for girls with all shapes. Try it now!

5. Halter top

Yes your boring t-shirt can be turned into a smarty halter top in minutes. This is a fairly simple thing to do and it turns out really nice. Have a look:

6. A cool tote bag

Yes I know! Who would have thought! This is also a very easy thing to do and the tutorial is very clear. This can be a great beach tote or a shopping bag. You can go crazy experimenting with this one. Enjoy:

Go a step ahead and add brooches or other embellishments to your newly created pieces. And remember if your initial attempts fail, you have new dusters for yourself!! Lol..just kidding..

Good luck experimenting! Send your pictures to Rati and share your experiences with all of us..

Experimenting with your plain t–shirts is a very effective way of looking fabulous and stylish during special occasions, or just on every other day. It is less expensive, it can enhance your creativity, and it allows you to do everything you want to do with your clothes. It’s cool to have outfits of different fashion styles rather than the ones you normally have.
