NARS Orgasm Blush Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS Orgasm makes cheeks blush a perfect pinky-peach flush and subtly highlights with accents of goldenΒ  shimmer. The perennially pleasing, universally flattering shade is again and again a makeup artist and beauty editor favorite.

My Experience with NARS Orgasm Blush:

  • I would describe the shade as a warm apricot-pink colour with high shine golden shimmer. The golden shimmer is quite finely milled so it goes evenly upon application. It’s not chunky or glittery kinds.
  • It is super duper pigmented. Just a swipe of colour and you get a nice glow on your cheeks.
  • The most amazing thing that I found about this blush was that it would work on most complexions- for women with colour it would work as a golden highlighter, for women with light wheatish complexions it would give aΒ  soft peachy pinky glow and for women with fair complexion it would give a natural pink flush of colour withaΒ  healthy glow to cheeks.
  • The packaging is nice, it comes with a mirror that is of decent size and overall the blush is sleek enough to take tiny bit of space in your bag.
  • The blush stays on all day on me. By the end of the day, I still have a soft glow on my cheeks .

  • With this you can go from morning to evening. Apply it lightly to get that healthy glow on cheeks and apply it a little heavy handed to get that oomph.
  • It’s a two in one highlighter + blush . So you don’t need to apply a highlighter with this blush. (see swatches below).
  • I think it would last me quite long because you would never need too much of it. πŸ™‚

Some NOT so good things about the NARS Orgasm Blush:

  • It’s very pigmented so you can go overboard with it easily. Also the golden in the blush could look OTT at times. Keep it more as an evening blush than a day blush, imo.
  • The packaging looks sexy black but I am not too fond of the material used for packaging. It gets dirty easily and always gets my fingerprints imprinted on it. πŸ™

Swatches

Overall I think the blush is really worth the hype. It’s a gorgeous colour and you’ll fall in love with the strong pigment. Also, it’s a gorgeous warm colour for most Indian skintones. Just a little word of caution, don’t do glittery-shimmery eye makeup when you wear this blush.

Here it is on my cheeks. I have applied the NARS orgasm blush quite heavily because the gold was reflecting so much in the camera that the colour was just not showing. πŸ™ Hope the pictures give you some idea about the colour.

Love what you’re wearing on your eyes.. do give us a breakdown! Also I was wondering if I should invest in the Revlon Colorstay eye pencil..I have a couple of Chambor and Lakme eye pencils already but I’ve heard rave reviews of this product so I’m wondering if I should buy it or buy a Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick instead..

Thank you, Anya. πŸ™‚ Actually did eye makeup exactly the same way as shown in this video:

http://makeupandbeauty.com/golden-black-smokey-eyes-tutorial-by-mac-vimi-joshi/

Just used the different products because I had none from what Vimi Joshi used. πŸ˜›

I would say that as of now pick up a maybelline lipstick, it’s lovely. You already have some pencils with you so why not pick up a lipstick. But revlon colorstay liners are really nice , have used them. πŸ™‚

Wow finally the much awaited post!It looks great on you Rati. πŸ™‚
Does it accentuate the open pores on the face?I found that some blushes do that!

Rati August 28, 2010 at 9:35 pm

Price Rati? Btw wer u very concious when u wore this as u said it is highly pigmented? Think a lil more pink would have been more attractive ?:-) ?:-)

Reply

Rati August 28, 2010 at 9:46 pm

Price around 1400, mentioned it. πŸ™‚ No actually it gives a kind of colour to cheeks but gold was reflecting so much light that the camera didn’t pick the colour. grrrrrr

And no I wasn’t conscious at all. It looks quite natural. I just had to wear it heavily here to show you guys the shade.

Btw I wear orange and purple blushes also, this still a natural toned blush. lolll!!!

Aarthi August 28, 2010 at 9:54 pm

Ohh yaa didn’t notice it as it was with the other links :silly: Ya I can see more gold πŸ™‚ Think spl digicams for makeup clicks shd be identified for us πŸ˜‰ Smokey eyes.. wow !!! Wld like to c purple blushes on u πŸ™‚

This looks amazing on you! I tried the ELF dupe for Orgasm and though of buying the real thing but never got to it. I kinda settled for Cover Girl’s Rose Silk, which is pretty close to it.
I think I might get this for next summer:

Lotus Herbals Kajal : http://makeupandbeauty.com/5-days-of-fun-with-lotus-herbals-day-4-natural-kajal/

Step 1: Applied Lotus kajal on my lower lashline
Step 2: Mixed tiny bit of eyeshadow and gel liner at the back of my hand and applied it as a base, Then took the black eyeshadow and applied it just on the crease to soften the edges.
Step 3: Took the same black eye shadow on the lower lash line and softened it with the brush.
Step 4: Applied the white eyeshadow from the same quad and applied it on the inner corner.
Step 5: Lined my upper lashline with the gel liner
Step 6: Curled and applied mascara

I don’t highlight my brow bone area so applied some compact powder on the browbone area just to even out the skintone.

Tip: Apply concealer after you have done you eye makeup. Because your black eyeshadow might have some teeny meeny fall out on your under eye area. After you have done your eye makeup, just dust off any eyeshadow from your under eye area, apply concealer and then apply powder.

Hope that helps. πŸ™‚

Looks extremely good.. I feel bad that I cannot use blushes as invariably tends to accentuate my pores . Tell me a blush from MAC which matches this shade of NARS and does not accentuate the pores or settle down into it ?:-) …. I am looking only for pinks… No browns.

Rati August 29, 2010 at 8:02 pm

Lavanya, apply a primer. It will help you. πŸ™‚
