Philips HP 8643 Hair Straightener and Dryer Miss Fresher’s Pack

Today I’ll be reviewing a combo product from Philips. I badly needed a dryer and straightener because every time running to Parlour is impossible. But mom was against using any heat appliances on my hair so basically I wasn’t allowed. But finally on my 21st birthday this year I could convince her for it and my brother gifted me this wonderful gift.It’s a combo kit – hair dryer and hair straightener.
Price: Rs. 2295 (but he got it for around 1700 bucks online)
My experience with Philips HP 8643 Dryer Miss Fresher’s Pack
Hair dryer:
Features: With a gentle drying power of 1000W, 2 flexible speed settings and 1.8m power cord length – this dryer is of small size compact one.
Now, when I saw it online I could not actually guess the size which turned out to be really small than other dryers when I received it. It has 2 flexible speed settings which control the airflow. To be honest, I have a love-hate relationship with this product. If I deep condition and properly take care of my hair pre-drying my hair, it really turns my hair glossy and shiny. But if my hair is a little dry then the hair dryer doesn’t add much shine to it, but – it neither turns out frizzy nor soft. It generally takes 15mins or less to dry my mid length hair. The heat isn’t too much. When I saw a video ‘how to make your hair wavy with dryer’ and tried it at home, the dryer failed miserably to perform. Basically, I can only use it for semi-straighten and dry hair. Overall, I can say that this dryer is perfect for beginners.

1. Heating is slower than other dryers.
2. It isn’t enough to create curls.
3. No auto-switch off settings or cool air options.
Hair straightener:
Features: With 210°C professional high heat and ceramic plates, it has 1.8m power cord and handle-lock system for easy storage.
This one impressed me a bit. The ceramic plates are of pretty decent size for long hair as well. The appliance heats up within 1 min and is very easy to use esp. the long cord helps me a lot. The only problem I face is that the top portion above ceramic plates heats up after 15-20 mins of usage, which is really uncomfortable. But the performance is really nice. It adds a tad shine to my hair after straightening. It can make you hair poker straight and natural straight as well, which is really nice. I prefer natural straight as it damages the hair less. My hair was perfectly straight for 3-4days (without washing the hair) after styling.
I have a bad habit of not using heat protection on my hair which really damaged my hair a lot. I can’t blame the straightener for damaging my natural big curls as I used it back-to-back without any protection, thus leaving my hair totally damaged.

2. Adds a bit of shine.
3. Very easy to use
4. Can be used both for curls and straightening.
5. Heating takes up less than a minute.

2. The appliance heats up fast which is really uncomfortable.
3. Amount of shine is very less.

Now, coming to the kit as a whole, I would say that this one is perfect for beginners. If you are looking for totally professional ones, you would be disappointed. It’s a basic hair dryer and straightener to be used when you’re in a hurry and quickly wants to style your hair.
