How are you all! It’s getting hotter and hotter day by day here, I have to change my skin care regimen accordingly. Well, I got The Body Shop skin care products this time as per IMBB suggestions.  Thankfully, I got everything at 40% discount around New Year, yay! Its ultimate pleasure of shopping with heavy discount 😛 We all know about TBS and the pleasure of owning TBS products 😛 Finally, I got a chance to do a mini TBS haul after reading and drooling over TBS products on IMBB. I would love to share my views on my new buddy for dry summers – The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash.  Its not the best face wash I have ever used, but way better than duds 😛 Please read on further to know about it:

Packaging:

This menthol and algae-smelling face wash comes in an ordinary transparent tube packaging. Nothing fancy about it, but its a travel-friendly tube packaging.

My Experience with The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash:

I have read a lot about TBS skin care products on IMBB. Moreover, I already own TBS Black Smokey Eye Shadow Palette and eyeliner gifted by my hubby on Valentine’s (review coming soon).  After my good experience with cosmetics, I was totally excited to try their skin care range.  Thankfully, they released their stuff at 40% discount a month ago and I just shopped like there is no tomorrow in my life and grabbed 4-5 products each from Seaweed, Tea Tree and Nutriganics series! What I love about TBS store is that they always send you back home with new samples of heavenly-smelling goodies.

Every time I go to their shop, I come back with heavenly-smelling samples of wild rose, almond, absinthe and strawberry hand creams or scrubs.  I must admit I mainly wander in TBS Shop for new product samples other than my goodies 😛

Let’s talk about Seaweed face wash, it’s a mild menthol and algae-smelling face wash with light exfoliation effect on the skin.  I usually apply it twice on my face and never felt that it overtly dries or irritates my skin, unlike other face washes which are way too harsh when applied twice! I got a cute TBS facial brush with this face wash, which is a little harsh on the skin, but perfect for exfoliation and cleansing on alternate days. This face wash is best for dry summers as it cleanses my face without over drying or stretching my sensitive skin.

However, I feel it does nothing for acne and scars though it will prevent future outbreaks. I feel its great for all those combination/oily skin beauties, who are blessed with clear skin and just need a mild mattifying cleanser.  I feel my face shine free and clear for good 8-12 hours along with soft and supple sheen on the face.

I never felt the need for applying moisturizer after washing my face, but still I do apply moisturizer as a safety measure against ageing.  I love its refreshing fragrance of algae and menthol which is not overpowering.  I fear strong menthol smell in most of the face washes cause skin to dry up.  I only wish it would have been equally effective on acne and scars.  It also removes mild face and eye makeup.  I would say it’s not my best HG face wash, but way better than other face washes I have used in my life!

Let’s sum up the pros and cons:

Pros of The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash:

• A mild, oil free and soap free face wash ideal for sensitive skin.
• Leaves the skin purified and squeaky clean without over drying even after using twice or thrice a day.
• Perfect pick for scorching, drying summers for oily/combination skin types.
• A mild algae and menthol smell which is not overpowering, just apt to feel refreshed.
• Face is shine free and clean up to 8 hours with soft and supple skin.
• TBS is against animal testing.
• It is loaded with all natural seaweed vitamins and minerals.

Cons of The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash:

• It does contain chemicals and parabens as preservatives.
• It is not effective on acne and scars.

Apart from these issues, I hold no grudges against seaweed deep cleansing facial wash. I would not recommend it to acne-prone beauties, but its a great pick for oily/combination skin types.  I would love to use it in winters when my face is acne free and more dry.
