Hi IMBBians!

As we all know, ayurvedic remedies are natural and healthier and do not generally carry any side effects. These tips can be of great help with only a little modification in our lifestyles.

• Cabbage

Cabbage is known to be very effective in burning body fat. Raw or cooked cabbage restrains the conversion of sugar and carbohydrates into fat. Thus, it is of great help in reducing weight.
You can consume 1 bowl of cabbage everyday to achieve your weight loss goals fast.

• Mint

Mint is one very beneficial herb for losing weight. Chutney of green mint with coriander should be taken with meals. Alternatively, you can also try mint tea.

• Spices

Spices like dry ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, hing are good for digestion and weight loss. They can be used in a number of ways in your daily diet.

• Salt

Avoid the intake of too much salt in your food as it is one of the major factors that help in weight gain, and not in loss.

• Honey

Ayurvedic Tips for Weight Management

Honey is an excellent home remedy for obesity. It mobilizes the extra fat deposited in the body. A glass of lukewarm water along with a few drops of lemon juice and half a teaspoon honey is to be taken on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. It stimulates the bowels and boosts the entire digestive system.

Alternatively, you can also take 1 glass lukewarm water, 1 tsp black pepper powder, Add 4 tbsp lemon juice and 1 tsp honey, Mix it well & drink every day in the morning.

• Carbohydrates

Avoid rice and potato, which contain a lot of carbohydrates.

• Turmeric

In ayurveda, turmeric is known to have therapeutic uses. You can have a glass of hot milk with turmeric every night to boost weight loss.

• Grains

According to ayurveda, food items such as oats, barley, nuts, pulses like moong and arhar help in removing excess fat from the body and aid in weight loss. Vegetables like bitter gourd (Karela) are useful for weight loss too.

• Cold Food and Beverages

Consumption of cold beverages and foods should be limited as they tend to aggravate the kapha dosha .

• Taste of Food

Also, ayurveda suggests to reduce the consumption of sweet, salty and sour food and increase intake of bitter, astringent and pungent food for a healthy body.

Lifestyle Change Suggestions by Ayurveda:

• Meditate

Find fifteen minutes for meditation every morning. Apart from weight management, these fifteen minutes of peace and relaxation every morning would be beneficial for your overall wellbeing as well.

• Sleep Well

Check your sleeping patterns: Go to bed with the sun, and rise with the sun. Also, the habit of sleeping in the daytime needs to be discouraged.

• Stay More Active After Taking Meals

Move a little after each meal preferably 10 to 20 minutes. Going for short walks at moderate pace after meals stimulates digestion. It’s most important to go for a walk after dinner.

Dry massages prove helpful for weight loss. One of the most popular dry massage techniques in ayurveda is Udvartana which basically is a special therapeutic deep tissue massage using herbal powders. It is an very effective remedy for excess weight and obesity. It removes cellulite, loosens fat and eliminates the Kapha toxins from the body. Apart from weight loss, it tones the skin & leaves it glowing.
