The Body Shop Cassis Rose Body Lotion Review

The Body Shop Cassis Rose Body Lotion

My favorite perfume is Stella by Stella McCartney which has top notes of a rose so when I fond this similar smelling lotion in Singapore I did not give it a second thought and bought it immediately. The other TBS rose lotions’ fragrance differs from this lotion quite a bit and this one is definitely not available in India. Had to own one 🙂

What The Body Shop says about Cassis Rose Body Lotion:

A moisturising body lotion that leaves the skin smooth and subtly scented with a sensational floral fragrance. This light and easily absorbed body lotion contains moisturising Community Trade babassu nut oil and softening grapeseed oil.
• Organic babassu oil – Moisturises the skin. Provides eight rural communities of women with the rare opportunity of regular work and income, whilst helping to preserve the amazon belt.
• Grapeseed oil – Is very rich in essential fatty acids that help to repair the skin’s moisture barrier, thus helping to restore moisture, smoothness and suppleness.
• Glycerine – Is an effective moisturiser that helps improve softness and hydration.

My Experience with The Body Shop – Cassis Rose Body Lotion:

The lotion comes in a transparent plastic with a flip to open cap. The flap closes perfectly and prevents the lotion from leaking. The lotion is very fragrant with the top notes of a rose. The other notes included are a combination of cassis, raspberry, freesia and violets. It is a very strong smelling lotion. The smell of the lotion lasts really long and tends to get stronger after sometime. You will be able to tolerate the smell only if you are a big fan of rose which unfortunately I am not. It tends to get a little overpowering for me.

The lotion is white in colour. The texture is quite runny and is not too greasy. It is extremely light and easy to apply. It also spreads easily. A tiny squirt covers a huge area. The lotion gets easily absorbed but is not very hydrating. Infact after sometime the skin starts to feel a dry again. It doesn’t soften the skin either. Overall the moisturizing properties of this lotion are below average. It is definitely not meant for winter use and can be a little greasy for summer. I guess you can use it in between seasons.
