The Body Shop Moringa Body Mist Review

The Body Shop Moringa Body Mist Review

Hi Again,

The Body Shop Moringa Body Mist Review

I am back in full swing after a short break.  As part of my tiny haul at The Body Shop recently, I purchased the Shea Beautifying Oil as well as the Moringa Body Mist, which is part of a newly-introduced collection. I bought only two products and will reviewing the Moringa Body Mist today. I have used perfumes and body sprays but I have only used a body mist so far, from the brand “Sweet Dolly.”  It cost me only around RM10 which is around 4 dollars.  I totally love it and have been using it for so long (even putting up with the slightly alcoholic smell).  The scent was of green apple fragrance and it totally used to uplift my mood.  Ever since I was on the lookout for similar body mists.

I haven’t tried any of the body mists from the old Body Shop range, but the new range captivated me. They had chocolate, strawberry, mango, coconut, shea and moringa fragranced body mists.  Since it was launched only recently, not all were available in the store and it had become out of stock so soon.  Out of the ones I tried, I liked the fresh and floral smelling moringa. Trust me I have never used any moringa products before, never even heard of such a thing. Since I don’t own any fragrance right now which smells similar to jasmine/gardenia, etc., I wanted to try this.

I came home, googled moringa and was pleasantly surprised. Moringa tree also known as miracle tree is none other than “Murrungai tree”(Tamil), Muringa (Malayalam) Sahjan(Hindi) all of which refer to M.Oleifera, the drumstick tree. The fruit, seeds and leaves of this plant are widely eaten in many parts of India, throughout Asia and Africa. These are high in medicinal value and has many minerals especially calcium and iron in very high quantities. I never knew the flowers were also used for fragrance, this was new to me.

My Experience with The Body Shop Moringa Body Mist:

Since this is my very first body mist purchase from The Body Shop, I don’t have anything to compare this to, but I am loving every ml of this product. Let’s start with the packaging. It comes in a see-through glass bottle and its bigger than the previous edition of body mists from The Body Shop.  The packaging is quite simple with the Moringa flower on the front. The bottle is sturdy and spray is a fine mist. I was quite reluctant since it is a glass bottle. I wanted to carry this in my purse all the time, especially in summer.  (It is only winter now, but just forward thinking!).  The SA however told me that she had dropped it once in her bathroom and the bottle didn’t break.  So, I think this bottle is semi glass- looks like glass but with a percentage of plastic mixed, not too sure though, so don’t try to drop!

I spray this all over just after showering and towel drying. It is winter but this floral fragrance just uplifts my mood. Some days, I have a bath/shower before going to bed, so when I get up in the morning, I just spritz this all over to freshen me up. The fragrance is similar to gardenia/jasmine and the likes.  Since it is winter, when I spritz this, it makes me really cold, but I don’t mind it. However, that characteristic is really good for hot summer days.  The fragrance lasts for a long time, but as a mild version. That is after the end of the day, I can still smell a light hint of it which is perfect for me. I also touch up throughout the day if needed. The bottle is a bit heavy to carry around compared to travel-size body mists.

I would love to layer this along with the shower gel and body butter from the same range, but I cannot do so as I already have a couple of new body butters.

Pros of The Body Shop Moringa Body Mist:

  • Lovely floral fragrance to take me to spring/summer in the middle of cold winters.
  • Comes in a sturdy glass bottle and has a fine mist.
  • Contains moringa extract and alcohol made from community trade sugar cane.
  • Transparent bottle so that I know how much is left (but most fragrances come in a see-through bottle any way).
  • Comes in a big selection of body mists – shea, coconut, satsuma, vanilla, chocolate, mango, etc.
  • Since it is quite a big bottle, it might last for a long time.
  • Leaves a light hint of perfume throughout the day.

Cons of The Body Shop Moringa Body Mist:

  • Since this is a new introduction, might not be available in all countries immediately.
  • Body Shop is overpriced in Australia.  (In UK, it is priced around 7 pounds which is around 17-18 AUD).
  • The Body Shop Australia never has any sales or offers, no gifts with purchases either to stock up as much as I want.

Will I Repurchase The Body Shop Moringa Body Mist?

Yes definitely.  Also, I am keen to try other fragrances.  Since Bath and Body Works as well as Victoria’s Secret splashes are not available in Australia, I am really thankful for this product.

  3. i am not a huge fan of the moringa range from the tbs but honestly your description now totally makes me want to sniff that. 😛 and have they come up with the new packaging? It’s very pretty. 🙂 would check if it is avial in india 🙂

    1. He he Rati,…. I read your moringa body butter review long time back ….

The thing is these kind of fragrance might be too common in india as there might lots of cheaper perfumes with Gardenia/Jasmine etc ,… and since it is so common especially among the older generation :)….. it might make u a bit sick 🙂

Here of course this is the very first fragrance of this type i have smelt in ages ,…and since it is a mist it is quite mild for me ,…..but i think layering might be too strong ….this is actually a total different fragrance from all the other Elizabeth Ardens and L’occitanes I currently own…

  4. Im a big fan of the Moringa range…was tempted to buy the Strawberry mist during the sale but now after news of TBS selling expired stuff in India, am completely put off:(
