How to Use Castor Oil for Eyelashes

Hope you all are doing great. I am going to highlight some benefits of castor oil in this article. We all want big eyelashes but we forget to take care of them. Big eyelashes do the talking and not all of us like to wear falsies. So read further if you want to know how you can grow your eyelashes thick and strong with castor oil.

The Goodness of Castor Oil

Castor oil is rich in Vitamin E and has got fatty acids. Castor oil has anti-inflammatory properties, therefore, it is absolutely fine to use it even if you have sensitive skin around the eye area. This affordable oil has all the nutrients that will nourish your lashes and make them thick and strong. Some people do not have dense lashes and that could be due to many reasons while some people have dry and brittle lashes. Castor oil hydrates the eyelashes and helps promote growth. Obviously, you won’t notice a change overnight. It is a slow process and it takes some time to show the results, but the results are wonderful for sure.

When Should You Apply?

The best time to apply castor oil is at night. It’s perfectly fine to use it in the day time but it becomes a little messy, of course. Also, you don’t want to ruin your makeup. So it is best to use at night before going to bed. This will help the oil to penetrate deeply and work.

How Should You Apply Castor Oil?

The first and the foremost step is to clean your hands and face. You can either use an eyeliner brush or a clean mascara wand to apply the oil or you can even use your clean finger to apply the oil. I personally feel it’s easy to use your fingers to apply the oil rather than a brush.

What All can You Mix with It?

1. Other Oils

Castor oil is loaded with nutrients and fatty acids, hence it can be used on its own. But you can mix it with a few ingredients to enhance the efficacy. For example, you can mix Vitamin E oil with castor oil. This will enhance the growth of lashes. Castor oil can be mixed with a few drops of almond oil to prevent brittle lashes, too. You can also mix olive oil with castor oil. Olive oil promotes hair growth, therefore it’s a good way to enhance eyelash growth. All the above should be used as an overnight treatment.

2. Eggs

Mix castor oil with a few drops of egg whites. Mix it really well and apply it on your lashes and let it sit on your lashes for about 20 minutes. Then, wash off with lukewarm water. Egg whites are rich in protein and promote hair growth. The Omega 9 fatty acid in castor oil hydrates the lashes.

3. Aloe Vera Gel

Mix a few drops of aloe vera gel and castor oil and use this mixture to thicken your lashes. Aloe vera offers anti-inflammatory properties and is good enough for promoting hair growth. You can even store this mixture in a sanitised mascara bottle and use it every day before going to bed. This is my personal favourite method because it’s hassle-free.

4. Vitamin E Capsules

You can even make a serum by mixing castor oil, olive oil and Vitamin E capsules. Just store the mixture in a sanitised eyeliner bottle or a mascara bottle.

These are some easy recipes that you can try at home to grow your eyelashes thick and strong. These are inexpensive and they surely work. Hope you try them and let me know which one worked for you. 🙂
