Clinique Happy Solid Fragrance Pencil Review

Clinique Happy Fragrance pencil(approx Rs 500 for 0.16 oz ) is a really clever solid variety of Clinique cult classic Happy perfume in a pencil form. It has a clear pencil cap cover which snugly fits over it. Ida has already reviewed the Happy perfume in its classic spray form. Here is my take on the solid pencil variety which I received as a part of a gift with purchase(GWP) scheme from Clinique.
Clinique Happy Solid Fragrance Pencil

How does one use it?

Simply dab or glide the pencil on your pulse points. This is where the blood vessels are closest to the skin giving off more heat and acting like mini fragrance pumps. Pulse points are the wrist, behind the ear, crook of the arm and knee, base of the throat.  Its rather easy to use, since its not in a liquid/spirit form  and therefore you can easily rub it on your desired spots.

How does it smell?

Heavenly. Joyous. Fruity. Citrusy. Light. Fresh. Like love. Like happiness.
You must have guessed the fact that I love the fragrance. Its just the right amount of being  a fragrance that doesn’t try too hard to be a fragrance, its a perfect everyday fresh happy smell. Since the human race has yet to invent embedded smell technology over the internet, so as a Graphic designer, here is my visual representation of the Clinique Happy fragrance.Yes people, it is THAT awesome.

To sum it up-

Pros of Clinique Happy Solid Fragrance Pencil

-Lovely, cute packaging.
-Camouflages as a pen in your purse.
-Allergy-tested by Clinique standards hence pretty safe on the skin.
-Ease to glide on your pulse points compared to a perfume spray.
-The pencil won’t break or spill in your purse, making them perfect for on-the-go use.
-Can be carried in your carry-on in the airport, very travel friendly.
-Can be mixed and matched with other fragrances.
-No stains on your clothes from any kind of spray.
-Does not spray all over the place, more concentrated without wastage.

Cons of Clinique Happy Solid Fragrance Pencil:

-Fragrance does not last more than 2-3 hours.
-You  end up wasting some of that solid perfume goodness whenever you sharpen them.
-Not available at stores all the time, although they keep bringing it up for sale time to time.
-Difficult to find the exact size of compatible sharper for the pencil, sometimes Clinique sells them with its own sharpener.

Conclusion:

I would definitely recommend Clinique Happy Solid Fragrance Pencil to anyone. Its also a very safe bet fragrance to gift to people, since it almost has an universal appeal and the pencil format is indeed unique. Its like handling over a crayon to an eager kid. Its really convenient to carry, apply and store. I plan to buy a spare one and it keep it in my office desk. They also had released a three pack version with Clinique Happy, Clinique Citrus and Clinique – a wealth of flowers which I am sure to buy when they re-introduce it at their stores. If anyone plans to buy one, I would suggest go for it the moment you see it in the stores and not procrastinate since it has a tendency to get sold out.

In conclusion, its a great buy for anyone and especially so for people who are going to be hugged and kissed for a period of time- people getting married, engaged, birthday etc or people who are just plain popular :).  Just apply it at your pulse points so that people smell it when they come near you unlike people who reek of perfume from a mile away.
