I remember, I had picked my first baked eyeshadow in UK, where I was amazed at how these shadows work – both in wet and dry forms. Seven years later, I think I am happier with subtle shadows for day wear, but on a special day, I don’t mind wearing a bold purple with shimmer. My Experience with Colorbar Emphaseyes Baked Eye Shadow Silk Road:
This is a blue-based purple kind of a shadow; one would not reach out for it so often, in my opinion. This color has some obvious shimmer. The colors are sort of blended together with shimmer of gold plus copper with purple. My problem with these baked shadows is that the color potency is diluted with the shimmer because once you swatch, you get a very sheer coat of color. There is some loose shimmer flying around the eyelashes as well.
This shadow looks very pretty when worn lightly on a base, all over the eyelid. Apart from that, this can be easily replaced by any other sheer purple shade. The shadow lasts for over two hours without a primer. There is minimal fall out any way and it melts on my oily lids with a primer underneath.
The sheer texture of the shadow makes me wear this over a darker shade underneath. The shadow does not really work efficiently with a wet brush either. Overall, “Silk Road” is a good sheer purple shadow with average lasting power. The shimmer is not irritating or over the top.

- Needs a darker primer or color underneath.
- A bit of shimmer flies around and settles on the lashes as well.
Would I Recommend Colorbar Emphaseyes Baked Eye Shadow Silk Road?
Not really, if you love purples, have a go at the counter before buying it.
