How to Depot Mac Eyeshadows
A lot of you must already be knowing the process of depotting mac eyeshadows. For those of you who don’t know here is how I did. This was my second attempt and thankfully, it was successful one. the first time I tried the non heat method and completely ruined one of my eyeshadow.
Items required:
- Swiss Knife. Bt you can use other tools also if you have them.
- Regular kitchen knife.
- Candle
- Tissue Papers
- MAC eyeshadow pots.
Place the point of the knife just where you see separator on the MAC eyeshadow pot. Slowly keep moving your knife. Please take your time here at this stage because if the knife flips, it might damage your eyeshadow. The top and bottom part would separate with a little movement of knife.
This is how it looks once the top part comes off.
Now hold the edge of the pan with a pair of pliers and keep it at a safe distance on flame of the candle. The plastic might catch fire if you keep it too close.
Melt it till it reaches this stage :
Now using a pointy tool, poke the melted part of the pan. You might have to tilt it a little so that there is a place for the eyeshadow pan to come out.
And here is the seperated pan. Let the pan cool for a while before you toss it in your palette.
And you can repeat the process with all the eyeshadows. I depotted 3 eyeshadows last night. 😀

Jomo, you need to melt the listick a little. The indian summer is good enuff na. If not, keep it in a warm place till the lipstick becomes soft. then press down the broken part into the mould so that it sticks up a little. You can use a butter knife for smoothening it out. Pop it into the freezer for 2-3 minutes till it sets. then get it out.
If it is badly broken, scoop out the entire lipstick using a knife / toothpick into a clean dish. Clean ur mould. Place the dish over a bowl of hot water. Don’t heat it directly because that can alter the formula of the lipstick. Once the lipstick becomes liquidy, pour it into the clean mould. Freeze it for few minutes and then allow it to stand on room temperature.

Jomol…there are many videos on youtube which show u how to fix broken lipstick ..check them out 🙂 or what u could do is buy a palette case and put the broken pcs in them…that make u can make ur own lipstick palette 😛

Hey Rati…I have a question…..doesnt these eyeshadows fall off the palette if you havent applied magnet strip? I have seen some articles suggest this…..

actually Nia, there is a little glue still stuck at the bottom of the pan. so the pan sticks nicely on the palette.
