Today I am here with a DIY face pack that is extremely useful in treating acne and its scars. I usually use this face pack when I get pimples on my jawline. Such acne and pimples are really annoying as they induce a great deal of soreness, itchiness and leave scars behind. However, if I use this face pack, it helps in reducing the size of pimples at a faster rate and treats them so that they don’t pass on any scars. And even if they do leave scars behind sometimes, they are very less visible and get easily treated. This face pack can be used for any skin type as it has lacto calamine and red sandalwood powder both. So, let’s read more.
Ingredients and their benefits:
Lacto calamine lotion/powder
I used lacto calamine lotion to prepare this face pack. This is something that is found in the closet of almost every acne-prone girl. Lacto calamine lotion has water, kaolin, castor oil, glycerin, zinc oxide and zinc carbonate in it. Zinc oxide in the lacto calamine lotion helps in healing the pimples at a faster rate and treats their scars also. Zinc oxide also possesses astringent properties that help in kerbing the oil production and keeping the pores clean. Aside from this, kaolin helps in balancing the oil of the skin. Castor oil and glycerin moisturise the skin very well. The use of lacto calamine is considered to be very effective in the case of mild acne.
Red sandalwood powder
Red sandalwood powder helps in clearing up the pimples as it helps in balancing the oil. This keeps your pores unclogged and fresh. When I have pimples on the jaw line, they cause itchiness sometimes. Using sandalwood powder helps in soothing those pimples and relieves my skin. When the red sandalwood powder is used regularly, it helps in fading away the acne scars at a faster rate. Aside from this, it also helps in exfoliating the skin and removing the upper layer of dead skin cells.
Turmeric is known for its antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It helps in treating the pimples and controlling the breakouts. It also helps in controlling the excess oil production. It also possesses anti-inflammatory properties and soothes redness and irritation. Turmeric also boosts collagen production, which helps in the regeneration of skin cells.
Lemon is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps in treating acne well. Apart from this, it helps in lightening post-acne scars because of its bleaching nature. It cleanses your skin very well and induces a brightening effect to it.
How to prepare:
Take a teaspoon of red sandalwood powder and add a pinch or two of turmeric in it. Give it a rough mix.
Add a tablespoon of lacto calamine lotion to the above mixture. If you are using lacto calamine powder, then add a teaspoon of it and add rosewater to make a paste.
Add 6-7 drops of lemon juice in it and mix the ingredients well to make a smooth paste.
How to use:
Step 1: Cleanse your face properly and pat dry.
Step 2: Apply the face pack on the affected area and let it sit for 20 minutes.
Step 3: Wash it off after 20 minutes with lukewarm to normal water.
Step 4: Don’t forget to moisturise your skin.
1. You can use this face pack twice or thrice a week or whenever you need it.
2. If you feel a tingling sensation when applying lemon juice on your skin, then I would suggest you soothe your skin with a calming toner or facial mist first. It will reduce the tingling sensation.
3. Do a patch test before using this face pack. For the patch test, apply the face pack over your softest skin. Wait for an hour to see if there is any irritation or rashes. If so, do not use this face pack.
4. If you are allergic to any ingredient used in the product, then do not apply this face pack.
