My Experience with Essence 2 in 1 Eyeshadow and Primer 02 Nude Rose:
I wanted to buy MAC Painterly Paint Pot, but when I came across the Essence primer, I changed my mind looking at the price tag. This brand offers such amazing quality makeup at such an affordable price. I love Essence for its eye makeup products, especially mascara, kajal, eyeliner (I’ll be reviewing them soon), gel nail polishes and much more.
I am so happy I got this one as this fared amazingly well for me. I might forget buying the Mac painterly pot for some time because I have something similar now, which I purchased at a very low price. This comes in a nice glass pot with a white cap on it. You have the shade and the other details labelled at the back of the pot.
All this while I was using L.A girl concealer on my eyelids. This one comes in a pot packaging and at present – for a change – I love this pot packaging. A brush or any other applicator has not been provided along with the packaging. I always find it easy to set this on my eyelids with the help of my fingertips. However, I use a flat concealer brush if I’m doing a cut crease eye makeup look.
You have two shades in this range: 01 Nude Beige and 02 Nude Rose. The salesperson at the store suggested me to go with shade 2 as she thought this would complement my fair skin tone. Both the colors looked amazing but I was speculative about this product so just got one. Shade 1 is beige; it’s a sand like color whereas shade 2 is a pink colored primer.
However, I don’t like to use this solely as an eyeshadow as my eyelids are a little discoloured and this shade looks chalky on my eyelids. As an eyeshadow, this may not be suitable for Indian skin tones. But as a primer, it does wonders. The formula is nicely creamy and buttery and I’m glad it isn’t sticky. I am also happy because it doesn’t set in the crease, doesn’t make the lids oily.
It glides easily on my lids with the help of my fingertips. It’s blendsable and I find it easy to blend with fingertips or a sponge. It is very much pigmented and makes your skin look even after the application. If applied on the eyelids before the application of eyeshadow this doesn’t change the color of eyeshadow. In fact, it enhances the color of the eyeshadows and makes your eyeshadows look more vibrant.
Sometimes, I have a tough time working with eyeshadows that are less pigmented and have a low staying power. And, this Essence primer fixes everything like magic. It enhances the shade of the eyeshadow and makes it last a long time. Even though it’s a 2 in 1 formula that works as an eyeshadow and primer both, I use this only for priming purpose.
