Essence Cosmetics has recently launched a new collection called Blossom Dreams, which comprises of lip pencils, blushes, highlighters, eyeshadow palettes, nail oils, nail polishes, eyeliners and some brushes. One thing that caught my eye was the Rainbow Highlighter, which is a raging trend in the beauty community. So, I picked up the shade 01 Prism of Light. Let’s see how this ultra-trendy product worked for me.

My Experience with Essence Blossom Dreams Rainbow Highlighter 01 Prism of Light:

This highlighter comes packaged in a simple plastic round compact; there is no mirror or brush included with this product. The shade name and other details have been provided at the back of the compact. The packaging is simple and cute.

This is a multicoloured highlighter that consists of very muted rainbow shades; these shades can be used separately or together. You can clearly see a purple, blue, green, yellow and peachy shade in the pan. It doesn’t offer a whole lot of shine, though. It looks very subtle on the compact.

Each color has a distinct shade to it. Though the shades are different they give a similar iridescent glow when blended together. So, I am not really a fan of using these shades individually. When I blend all the shades together, it results in a beautiful, subtle icy iridescent glow.

Since the highlighter is not really big, the colours are compactly packed in the packaging, so it’s not possible to properly use the colours separately using a brush. The highlighter is not powdery at all and it blends well on the skin without being patchy.

The multicoloured highlighter gives the cheeks a soft iridescent glow, more like a halo effect on the cheeks, which I really enjoy. The swatch below is a heavy swatch of all the colours swirled together; when blended together, these shades give a subtle iridescent glow which reflects light beautifully.

It’s not a blinding highlighter and I also wasn’t really expecting that, to be honest. I applied about 2 or 3 thin layers on my cheeks and the result was very subtle. If you’re not into blinding highlighters, this one is perfect for you. One thing worth mentioning here is that the rainbow itself doesn’t transfer onto your face when you use all the colours; it doesn’t matter how you apply it you just see icy shine.

The longevity of the highlighter is pretty good. It lasts all day long on my face, which is pretty good. Overall, I like this one as it gives a beautiful iridescent glow to the cheeks. If you want a subtle halo-like glow then you can give this a try.
