Read Rati Beauty Diet: The Right Way to Lose Weight
The more I delve into beauty products, the more I realize there are so many things I do not know about them. Many times, products having same ingredients are sold at different prices by different brands. I have now a better knowledge of my skin type; what works and what does not work for my skin. I have dry to combination skin type, and usually do not prefer alcohol in skin care products. Also, I prefer my skin or hair care products not having silicones, but do not get the right product every time, but I do have another problem. I am allergic to certain ayurvedic products. My first interaction with an ayurvedic product going horribly wrong was a few years back, when my mum consulted our family physician to give me some energy supplements since I was preparing for my board exams. The doctor prescribed me these well-known ayurvedic/ all natural, no chemical tablets, and from the first day itself, I noticed a bit of skin getting dry and flakes forming on my skin. As days passed by, the skin flaking and peeling only worsened, and I actually tried an emollient to counter this problem. Though the emollient did help a bit, the basic problem remained unchanged, and I finally realised that it was due to my taking those ayurvedic medications. I stopped using them, and my problems just vanished. Since then, I use such products very carefully, with a pinch of salt.
Apart from these, I do not have any major skin issues, and generally almost all products do suit me. However, I try to avoid alcohol containing products, especially in winters. Since the serum rage has started, I have used many of them. But, I do see that most of these do have alcohol or silicones or parabens in it. I try to avoid these as much as possible.
My first interaction with this product was about 7-8 years back, when I poured out a bit of the product from my mum’s bottle (I think it was the original Night repair complex), and used it diligently for around a month. I was impressed with it, but somehow, it slipped from my mind, and I have never used it since. The original Night repair was reformulated to Advanced Night repair Synchronised Recovery Complex(I), and then again, the present II version. I saw this potion a few months back on the internet, and purchased it around two months back when I visited the Estee Lauder store. The best part which convinced me into buying this was the absence of silicones, alcohol or parabens in it.

My Experience with Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II:
My foray into Estee Lauder products started with my mum’s little potion bottle (the original Night repair complex), which my mum used to treat with great care, and keep it locked in her small “sanduk” like beauty box. This was her very revered box, and even my father was not allowed to touch it without her permission. I borrowed (read “stole”) a bit of this serum once, and used it and liked it, but could not understand what was so special about it. Well, now I do.
Well, I am not getting any younger, and do try to take good care of my skin; more so because of my erratic work schedule. I purchased this bottle around 2 months back. The bottle actually comes in both 30 and 50 ml versions; but the 30 ml version was out of stock, hence I got this larger, more expensive bottle.
It comes in a green color box packaging, with all details and ingredients written on it. The bottle is amber color tough plastic bottle. This is good, since the amber color will prevent the degradation of ingredients due to sunlight. Also, it will not break if it ever slips from your hands, due to the toughened plastic material. It has a dropper enclosed for dispensing the product. The whole packaging is simple, but extremely luxurious.
The serum is also light brown in color. The consistency is a bit dense, hence only 3-4 drops is enough for the entire face and neck area. The entire bottle should easily last me around 8-10 months. The texture is a bit slimy, but goes on very smoothly on the skin. It absorbs very fast, and never feels oily or tacky in any way. I have used it in the hot weather as well in cold AC conditions; but it never feels uncomfortable at all. The fragrance is a bit medicinal, but quite pleasant in a way; and goes away after a while. I apply it every night after my cleansing and toning (and sometimes exfoliation) routine. I usually avoid using it on my eye area. It sinks right into the skin, and instantly gives a softer and smoother appearance to it.
Over a period of one month, I have definitely noticed a radiant glow on my face, when I wake up in the morning. My skin is smoother and hydrated, my pores are less visible, and overall my face has a well-rested look. I am skipping my night time moisturizer now when I apply this; however, whether I will need one during the harsh winter months, only time will tell. According to the SA, I will not need any moisturiser on top of this all through the year, since this product itself is quite thick.

Would I Recommend Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II?
Well, I am still in two minds regarding recommending this. Quality wise, it is an excellent product, and you will not be disappointed at all; especially if you have mature skin. However, there are cheaper serums available in the market, which claim to, and actually do perform a good job. So the choice is totally up to you. I am in love with Estee Lauder, so I will most probably repurchase this one after 9 months, But again, I cannot plan that long ahead in the future; since something new and better may also come up in the meanwhile.
