How To Make Your Own Capsule Makeup Kit

Hello everyone!
I am currently in the middle of travelling and moving around constantly and struggling with all of my makeup and skin care items, confused about what to pick and what I’d really need. This post is a guideline to help all of you out there who need help with a capsule makeup. I personally struggled to put this together and I feel like I have finally perfected how.
Here are my tips and tricks to putting one together for you.

1. A foundation:

Nothing says classy quite like a gorgeous, dewy skin. No matter what, you need your base to make everything else look good. Whether it’s a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream or a full blown foundation, this is one essential in the kit.

2. A concealer:

But which one? This is a capsule makeup kit. I hate the idea of carrying too many products in it. So take a pick on what type of concealer you might need based on your needs. If covering up your eye bags are more important, then pick a highlighting concealer. If you need to hide your flaws in case you’re going for a tinted moisturiser, then go for a good high coverage concealer. If you feel like you need both, then that’s your pick too. 🙂

3. Eyeshadow:

This is an opinion that is very personal. A lot of makeup gurus recommend taupe eyeshadow. I do like taupe, but a true multi tasker for me is a matte brown. I love to apply this all over my lid, or sometimes in my crease to give some depth. It can double up as contour as well and never fails to be used.

4. Mascara:

This is a no brainer. One swipe of mascara will jazz up any old look. There are loads of good drugstore products which will do the trick. I would hate travelling with expensive mascaras just in case I lose them.

5. Eyeliner/kajal:

One pencil of black or brown kajal or eyeliner is always present in every Indian girl’s kit. I don’t think I have spent a week without kajal. This is an absolute must have.

6. Red/berry lipstick:

Pick a tube of your favourite red or berry lipstick. This could be a multi tasker too. Dark lipstick can be applied sheer, for stained lips or can be applied full blown too. Red lips can really solve any makeup mishap. When I swipe on a red, I feel like I don’t notice the rest of my makeup.

7. Lip gloss:

I am not a lip gloss girl, but even I have one tube of non-sticky nude gloss in my kit. This can go over any kind of lip or eye look.

8. Tools:

For a travel set, I love Body Shop’s travel brush set. There are many out there to pick and they are small and have just enough to help with a detailed eye look.

I hope these are helpful to all of you. Please share your opinions on your capsule kit. \

  1. One can also include a blush product which will work as eyeshadow. Like the Body shop all in one. Of course in an appropriate colour. Similarly bronzer which will also multitask as eyeshadow.
