I am back with a K-Palette review. This is a quad from the brand’s most famous “1-Day” range. Actually, there are a lot of copycats in the drugstore area for this 1-day trend. Mostly, all of them have the line “1-Day” written on them. So, how does this particular product measure up against the other famous ones available in the market? Read on and find out 🙂
Packaging: The palette comes in a square, pink and mirrored packaging with the brand name on it. It is a partially usable mirror but there is no mirror on the inside. It comes with a dual-ended brush.
Pigmentation/Formula: The formula on this quad is very very disappointing. It follows the regular trend of eyeshadows across the drugstore. It has better pigmentation compared to the other products that I have tried, but the formula of it is very powdery, even chalky. All the powders blend and dust away very easily. This means you need to use a primer or something sticky for them to adhere to.
Highlighter: The highlighter has shimmer and so when blended out, the shimmer really catches the light, but the biggest downside is that this shade is stark white. It looks terrible on my tan skin tone when blended out on cheeks or even on the eyes. I recommend it for very light to medium skin tones instead.
Contour (called “Shading” in Japan): The contour shade is a matte, slightly warm-toned medium brown. It is a bit lighter than my own skin tone and so I like to use it to blend out the lid shade/crease shade on my eyes.
Blushes: There are two blushes in the quad; one is a bubblegum pink and another a peachy orange. Both the shades are matte. I find it difficult for these to show up on my skin tone. I have to put on quite a lot of product to even see a hint of colour on my cheeks. So again, I use these two as eyeshadows. It will show up a lot better on lighter skin tones.
Brush: The dual-ended brush feels soft and applies the colour relatively easily. It is easy to pick up product with this brush, but I do not prefer it. I like to use my own blush/eyeshadow brushes but my blush brush is too big to dip inside the quad unfortunately.
Staying Power: The blushes did not last a very long time on my skin. The blushes last just about 3 hours on me. I cannot comment on the staying power of the other two powders because I use the contour shade as a base for my crease shade. The highlighter is something I cannot find use for at all, so cannot comment on that as well.
Pros of K-Palette 1 Day Magic 3D Palette – 01:
- Compact packaging with 2 blushes, a highlighter and a contour, easy to travel with.
- All the stuff in there except the highlighter are matte.
Cons of K-Palette 1 Day Magic 3D Palette – 01:
- Highlighter is stark white – will only work on very light to medium skin tones.
- Formula of all the products is very powdery, chalky and blends away.
- Needs a primer or something for the powders to adhere on to.
- Pigmentation is average.
Would I Recommend K-Palette 1 Day Magic 3D Palette – 01?
Although, I have mentioned that very light to medium skin tones can find best use for this quad, even for those skin tones, I do not recommend this product because of its formula. Note that if you have a cool skin tone, the contour side might look too orange on you, as it is intended for warm, very yellow-toned skin tones.
