LA Girl Matte Flat Velvet Lipstick Poetic Review

My lipstick obsession is here to stay and I have recently started experimenting with unconventional shades. A few days ago, I felt like buying a grey lipstick and thus immediately ordered the shade “Poetic” from L.A. Girl. Go through the review to know how it worked for me.

My Experience with LA Girl Matte Flat Velvet Lipstick Poetic:

Packaging: The packaging of this lipstick is pretty unusual. It comes in a long black tube with a color indicator on the lid. It is so easy to find it from your storage unit. The brand name is inscribed in golden and the ingredients list is mentioned on the tube only. The lid shuts with a click and it can be easily carried in your purse. The bullet is cut at a sloped angle which makes the application super easy.

Shade: “Poetic” is a light grey shade that looks good on my skin tone. As this is an unconventional shade, I am not sure how it will look on other skin tones. However, I believe, it is more about carrying the color. It can be too overpowering at times. You have to keep the rest of the makeup in sync with the lips so that the latter gets the maximum attention.

I think you need to experiment with these colors and need a lot of confidence to carry such shades. I tried wearing it alone and mixing it with brown lipstick. Also, I created various ombre effects with black and blue lip pencils. All the looks satisfied me and I love wearing this color casually too. The pigmentation is quite good. It covers my pigmented lips perfectly well. Two swipes of this is more than enough for one go.

Finish/Texture/Staying Power: I will describe the lipstick as a creamy matte one. It glides smoothly on the lips and the color spreads evenly. The texture may feel a little waxy at times, but that does not affect the application. It does not feel heavy on the lips.

The creamy feel remains throughout and it keeps the lips moist. Even though it is creamy and transfers a little initially, it stays in place for 6-7 hours. After the first few hours, it actually becomes a very dry, matte lipstick and if you have dry lips, you must use a lip balm before applying this. It does not cling to the creases of the lips or highlights any dry patches. It may fade a little from the center of the lips after a heavy meal. But, it leaves a deep stain behind. It is best to remove it with an oil-based remover.
