How often do we buy base products, depending on the SAs advice? I guess, for most (including me), almost 70-80% times. Under the store lights, do we always get a perfect shade? And how often do we rush to a departmental store to get our products, so that we may have more choices. I live at a place, where there are no departmental stores. Nil..None. So, when I travel, I tend to visit the luxury brands to check out the new launches and the shades. But, not always do I find the time, to really try and test out a product, quality wise as well as shade wise…so it is really a trial and error matter for me. I have never used drug store brand concealers; I was never convinced that the shade would suit me and blend seamlessly with my skin tone.
My area of concern are really my dark under eye circles….and while I was buying new products for my eye make-up, I decided to buy a new concealer as well (Till I last checked, my under eye area is very close to my eyes….LOL!!!). And then the hassle and toggle with the SA started. She was not at all willing to give me this shade, even after I explained that I need it for my dark under eye areas. She had a concept….Madam, you are fair(Ohh ….everyone is fair in their eyes…Btw, I am NC30)…you should go for shade 03-Medium. Finally, I had to really be extreme polite with her…saying that I had used this same concealer previously, and I know my shade, hence could she kindly give it to me….or else I may have to visit another shop. Well, I got the product….and am reviewing it for you here.

My Experience with Lakme Absolute Honey Face Stylist Concealer:
Packaging: The product looks very similar to MAC Moisture cover Concealer….I am NC 42 in that, by the way. It comes in a black box packaging, inside which is a transparent tube with a doe foot applicator. The shade name is mentioned on the box, and on the tube…so no hassles there at all.
Consistency: This is a liquid concealer, almost a gel like consistency; which is to be applied with a doe foot applicator. You have to only put a few tiny dots over the area to be concealer, and then blend it with your fingers or with a brush. Concealer is not very runny or very thick, infact it is a perfect consistency for areas with dryness, having fine lines and wrinkles.
Pigmentation: I find solid concealers to be most pigmented. However, I cannot apply it to my under eye areas, since they tend to sit on the fine lines. This concealer has a warm toned medium pigmentation; it covers up my dark under eye areas well, without sitting on the fine lines. This is an everyday sort of concealer, where you just need a neat appearance, without going overboard. However, you might need some extra help along with this, to cover up very dark or obvious rough patches on your skin, when you want an immaculate look. This is the darkest shade in the range, which I find really irritating; however, this shade is quite close to my MAC Select Moisture Cover Concealer in NC42; with a tad better pigmentation. This shade does not look ashy or whitish on me.
Lasting time: It blends well with my skin tone. I usually apply it over my under eye cream, but if you do not have dry skin, you may skip the cream part. It has enough moisture, not to totally dry up on the concerned area. You may need to set it with a powder, so that it does not budge. Without a powder, it stays on for 5-6 hours easily, and then starts fading. I feel it provides quite decent coverage and longevity for a day time look.
Pros of Lakme Absolute Honey Face Stylist Concealer:
• Easily available
• Moisturising concealer
• Medium coverage
• Doe foot applicator helps in product dispensing
• Blends quite well
• Stays 5-6 hours
• Shade is almost similar to MAC Select Moisture Cover Concealer in NC42
• Does not look ashy or whitish on me; in my under eye area.
Cons of Lakme Absolute Honey Face Stylist Concealer:
• Very expensive for the quantity
• Only 3 shades available (when the foundation has 6 shades, why does the concealer have only 3)
• May not help out very dark under eye circles, or very obvious imperfections.
IMBB Rating: 4.3/5
Will I recommend Lakme Absolute Honey Face Stylist Concealer?
If you do not have access to luxury brands, or are looking for a decent concealer for day time look, this could be for you, from our desi brand. However, please apply the concealer; check the shade match correctly in day light, without your makeup, and along with your makeup. Only when you are completely satisfied, then go in and shell out the moolah for this.
